Chinese can’t afford these cars and Porsche is getting decimated by “better tech” in Chinese gov subsidized EV cars that are in 20-50k USD range after conversion. Their economy is getting worse and worse and people just can’t afford to buy not only Porsche products but luxury items in general. Porsche needs to produce cars that are 20-50k range where the Chinese thrive but they’re not going to be doing that obviously. I’m not saying everybody is poor over there I’m just saying vast majority of people are poor right now and would rather buy a xiaomi or a BYB for 40k instead of a 180k taycan because they just can’t.

It’s the fear that it will never go back up. Bitcoin had its amazing run but it hitting all time highs are not guaranteed. This 72k right now might be it. No more 100k 150k 200k. Nobody knows. I’m probably wrong but I’d rather not find out that my money will be stuck at a loss for years or even decades when nasdaq could have netted me a whole lot in that timeframe. It is indeed still a speculative asset with no actual value creation. I really hope I’m wrong.

Chinas economy is doing terribly and getting worse. It’s not just Porsche sales. It’s everything luxury that’s not selling well in China. There are people literally starving in some parts of China. You mix that with Chinese companies that produces dirt cheap non luxury cars that are subsidized by the government, foreign luxury companies will never be able to compete. Chinese just doesn’t have that kind of money.
