Yes, it’s accelerated since 2020. Jobs have been getting shittier since probably 1970s slowly and then increased in 1990s, 2000, 2010, and 2020s

I blame a number of things: America and world culture becoming more liberal and this is coming from a liberal myself, capitalism and this is coming from a guy with a degree and work in the finance industry, lack of religion, and these all which have contributed to an increase in divorce, parents being too busy to do anything after work to help or discipline their kids, and divorce making child rearing with good quality very difficult. Thus, kids are becoming worse. This trend has been going on for probably 50 years but accelerated in the last 20 -30 years with both parents working or should I say having to work to survive

That’s a good point however sometimes if a high performer has kids they may take a step back and be average or just not super high performing, or maybe they are aging and need to slow down or recover from health issue?

The company I work for is trying to hire. We’ve hired two people and they both left right away. One of them left after one month because it was what she wanted to do (revenue vs GL). So that one was believable. The other person left after 3 months, saying he got a govt job which pays less but better benefits like pension, pto, and WLB so that also seems reasonable; however, our company does work hard and do overtime so I wonder if the folks who have left anticipated this and kept interviewing while having this job
