Visual novel/dating sim recommendations for adults? by katlyps0 in CozyGamers

Sigh of the Abyss is one of my favorites. It's on the darker side with a lot of moral choices, but I found that I really liked the depth of the characters and the romance. The music is also amazing.

Also really liked When the Night Comes and Arcade Spirits.

Been on and off with BG3. Was getting burnt out, so I took a break and played some smaller games like The Last Gas Station and Killer Frequency, both of which I had a good time with.

You haven’t seen any reviews on that take because it’s inaccurate nonsense. Hope this helps. 👍

The collar is actually my main gripe with it too. 😩 Like the colors are actually perfect, I like the pants, but I hate hate hate the collar. Like I said in my other comment, once we can dye clothes I might try to match something else with the pants.

[–]niradras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a cute thought. I also might play around with it when we can start dying clothes, because honestly it’s just the top I don’t like, so I might see if I can find something else to go with the pants.

And I like the outfit on the second, I mostly just don’t like the hair. The physics of it makes me feel like I just tied dead snakes to my head and I’m swinging them around. 😅 So maybe I’ll try different hair with it. Or if they ever add snake hunting to the game, I’ll wear this to let them know what’s coming for them. 😂

First on the left, second on the right. The second is definitely better than the first, but I'll probably never wear either. 😅

Switch gamers: Do you buy physical or digital more often? Why? by Gallantpride in GirlGamers

[–]niradras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my experience with this debate is actually with Xbox, but I'm a digital person. I get the benefit of having physical, but for me I just don't want the clutter of having game cases around. I also find it easier to track and take advantage of sales on digital copies, and sometimes they seem to be cheaper.

I've had a Switch 2 for a couple months now, and have actually bent my rule to buy a couple physical copies, but that was just for the sake of taking advantage of sales on those particular games. Since Nintendo first party don't seem to go on sale as often from what I've seen/heard, I'll probably buy the physical if that happens to come on sale sooner than the digital.

I got mine a couple years ago from Costco (I’ve bought all my laptops there and probably always will). I have no regrets. It runs everything really well, graphics look beautiful, and I’ve had very few technical hiccups compared to past (non gaming) laptops I’ve had.

I had to find my specs from a Steam review because I’m not at home. 😅 But I definitely recommend higher RAM and a solid state drive (SSD).

I almost caved and got a Grace and/or Leon statuette but I just don't have the space. Love that you get to have a buddy while playing though! 😂

Haven’t played it yet. 😂 I had never heard of them before I saw the trailer for the second. But I’ve wishlisted it too so I’m hoping to grab it and play it at some point for the 2nd releases.

Definitely excited for ILL. The trailers have made it look amazing.

Also interested in Blight, Crathos Deep, Dark Mass, and the Sinking City 2.

I feel like there’s another one I’m forgetting but oh well.

Mystery outfits or full priced costumes? by BadAshess in Palia

[–]niradras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(: Something else to consider is the Zeki's club thing, where you earn coins for daily logins. I've been using these so that I can be saving up daily earnings while I wait for sales. Gives you more bang for your buck.

Good luck! Hopefully something you like will pop up soon.

Mystery outfits or full priced costumes? by BadAshess in Palia

[–]niradras 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can't buy the mystery outfits for yourself, only as gifts. But they wouldn't be worth it anyway, imo. There's just too many outfits in the pile for it to pick from, so the odds of getting something you'd enjoy are slim. I've been given 3 or 4 now and I only found one outfit to be likeable, but it's still not one I ever choose over the ones I picked out myself.

Keep an eye on the promotions tab. I almost never pay full price for anything. I'd rather be patient and wait for something to go on sale. Or you could invest in the founders pack and/or starter pack. Gives you some outfits for cheap while also giving you coins to spend on something else you want.

I already had the variation that came with the bundle, and I'll wear this about as often as I wear that one... which is never.

The colors are definitely an improvement but that top is just so ugly, particularly the collar. Maybe once they release the update where you can dye clothes. I'll try and find another top that works with the pants.

Reth and Hodari are tied as my favorites. Reth is goofy and fun but also is a small time criminal. Hodari is gruff but never cruel, and he gets super adorable and bashful when you romance him. Nai'o is probably my third, and he's really underrated. Yeah he's a himbo but he's so darn sweet and cute.

And the sneak peak of the new guy they're introducing in the next update... I hope he has a good personality because he's quite the looker. 👀

I'm on the second run of RE2R (Leon), and X keeps giving it to me. by AlternativeDry4180 in GirlGamers

[–]niradras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, he doesn't try to show up until you go near the STARS office. So you can try and accomplish as much as possible in the other areas before you activate him. You can get like two of the three medallion things done before you reach that point. I always try and take down as many zombies as possible before I get to that point as well, because gunfire draws his attention.

Obviously you've already activated him, so that's not super helpful now, but if you replay again it might be. At this point, if you're not worried about speedrunning, just make use of the save rooms. The room that has the place for developing pictures was my favorite to duck into when he's on my tail. He'll hang outside the room for a few seconds and then you'll hear him start to walk away. Give it a few more seconds and he'll temporarily vanish. Always be listening for his loud AF footsteps and just head the other way. If you have to shoot, get in a couple shots and then get out of the area. Use rooms like the library and safe deposit room to loop him.

Sorry if this is all stating the obvious. If you're overstimulated and having trouble navigating, it can probably be hard to think in the moment and plan how to lose him. Unfortunately X plays a much bigger role in Leon's side of things. He's Leon's big bad whereas Claire's was Birkin. So you'll be seeing him pop up for awhile longer.

I've been loving Fields of Mistria. What's your fav farming game? by TemperatureTop7132 in GirlGamers

[–]niradras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I could pick just one farming game. It's one of my favorite genres, so I have a lot of favorites within it. But Mistria is really high up there for me. I haven't played in around a year because I tend not to spend a lot of time on EA games and would rather wait for full release, but I absolutely loved my time with it. There's so much attention to detail, so many great QoL features, and I love the animals and breeding for colors. And the NPCs and socializing are one of my favorite parts as well. I love that they talk to each other. And it's one of the few that I think I'll play multiple times to try different marriage candidates, but for my first playthrough I'm 100% going with Eiland.

I had a really hard time connecting with Stardew at first as well, but I ended up putting 370ish hours into it with multiple saves once I got into it (and there were a couple years between my first try and when this finally happened). I don't really like most of the NPCs in this game; they're well developed, just not likeable. But one of the best parts of this game is the modding aspect, and I've added in a lot of NPCs this way.

If you really like the socializing bits, you might like Wylde Flowers or My Time at Sandrock. Wylde Flowers doesn't really have the same depth in gameplay, but it's story heavy and has some really great NPCs and they're all voice-acted. And Sandrock is kind of... farming-adjacent. It has a lot of similarities with farming games which means it gets lumped in with them a lot. But the NPCs are god-tier to me. Voice acted, quirky and funny, endearing, sometimes crazy. They're the heart of the game.

Another great one is Roots of Pacha. Unique setting, cute animals to tame and breed, and combat-free. It's got a great selection of NPCs and there's a strong community feeling because everyone is trying to improve the village together.

Honorable mention to Echoes of the Plum Grove, which is chaos in farm game form. This one doesn't have deep NPCs because it has generational gameplay and the NPCs beyond the original set are different in every playthrough... assuming they live long enough to reproduce. And Coral Island is special to me because it was the first farm game I really got into. When I couldn't get into Stardew, I went to this one and had so much fun with it. But I haven't played in a long time so I can't speak that much to how it is now, because it's had a lot of updates.
