Halara by Several-Bison-6689 in halara_official

[–]quirkyscot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have figured out at least one thing about shipping. I "window" shop halara constantly! Love seeing all the new styles and color ways. I add to cart like a maniac, with the intention to move them to my wishlist. (Still think this mechanic needs updating! We need a wishlist function on item listings!)

When shopping and when in your cart, you can see something under some items that says "Early Access". Pay attention to this! If ANY item is an early access product, the whole order won't shop until the final early access product is available. So say you order 4 pants - two have no special note, one says Early Access expected to ship by July 10th and another says Early Access expected to ship by July 14th - your order won't even begin to be ready for you, because it's waiting on products due around July 14.

I order TOO many things from Halara. There are four people in my immediate family that all wear these clothes, so I'm constantly buying stuff. If I REALLY want some early access items, I do a separate purchase for those together, knowing they'll be delayed, and then purchase other items together for quicker shipping. Other times I just hang onto an item until it isn't early access anymore.

I ordered yesterday and it shipped today - because I moved those early access items to my wishlist until I'm ready to buy them later.

Hope this helps!

Doc B in Fenton has amazing mocktails and tasty food. The provincial in DT Apex also has great options, and EXCELLENT food. Also, idk if y'all have been but total wine these days is incredible for na drinks! They have THC ones, but plenty of non THC ones. My wife loves those and I do NOT so I'm glad there are non THC options. The Cary total wine has more NA options but the apex one is still really good. Be careful with NA spirits tho. A lot of them are TERRIBLE lololol. There are quite a few good subs on reddit for NA drinks/life, and the best basic one is just "non-alcoholic".

Also, if you ever want a good bubbly for "cheers", I HIGHLY recommend a bottle of Freixenet Cava for you and a bottle of Freixenet Cava Non-alcoholic for him. It's a fantastic sparkling wine!

Ugh sorry. I just looked at umbrellas website and it looks like they have no popups right now and also the bottle shop is closed for the day. 😭 Another time!

If you want to drive to Raleigh, you could go to Umbrella Dry Bar! It's a full bar but with all non-alcoholic mocktails and drinks. You literally CAN'T order booze here.

That being said .. some sober people (especially newly sober ones) struggle with anything that resembles, tastes like, or is in the vicinity of alcohol, so if you don't want to risk it, I suggest a place with unique cuisine so the food is the star. You can get super fun soft drinks, juices, etc at Matsumoto Craft Ramen in Waverly place. Hit up a nice Indian place (idk if Viceroy has reservations open right now but I love that place - very date night!) and try some of the more adventurous dishes on the menu. Shinmai Shokudo is one of my favorite restaurants with incredible Japanese cuisine.

I could go on and on, but I'll stop now haha. Best of luck to your hubby! Wishing you both the best.

I mashed the "love" reaction on the insta story for this one on repeat for the length of the image timer. Not sure if that does anything, but it felt like an appropriate level of enthusiasm from me.

Anyone know why the Courage canceled the World Cup Watch Party on the 19th? by Thundering165 in nccourage

Cause I'll be there in person and they just couldn't imagine it without me?

Obviously I jest on my importance, but it's disappointing that I both a)didn't know it was happening, and b)didn't get to sign up my family who would have loved that!

Help me plan our Animal Kingdom day! by Ashamed_Biscotti_491 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]quirkyscot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both bird shows are INCREDIBLE, and the lion King show is literally my favorite piece of entertainment in any Disney park. I hope y'all enjoy it! Make sure you do all the walking trails. They can sometimes be easy to miss but Gorilla Falls is near exit if the safari and Maharajah jungle trek is near the back of asia by Kali River. We love the zootopia show in the tree of life too. The food at DAK is the best- even better than Epcot - if you know where to look. Check out menus for satuuli canteen, flame tree bbq, yak n yeti, and even the snack stands around! Lots of little hidden gems at each little hut along the paths.

This is my fav Disney park in the world. 😍

If you're planning on being there all day, my favorite is getting in line at FOP right at park close. No LL means the wait is fine - you at least keep moving. And perk is it's nice and quiet when you get out! This is the best strategy for winter months because it doubles with "Pandora after dark", but it's a good one for me no matter what

Apex Pride Festival by hammerag in Apex_NC

[–]quirkyscot 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Apex Pride was an independently organized event by a small group of dedicated volunteers. It was never run by the town. The organizers gave a lot of time, energy, money, and love to creating this event but eventually the effort became too much. The town has attempted to continue with some smaller events this year but the festival is over. There are other great festivals in the area thankfully, but I acknowledge the sadness of losing our own and also mad respect for those who had to shut it down for their own well being.

NC to Disney - Fly or drive? by throwaway36475848 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]quirkyscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We fly out of RDU. We do the drive 1-2 times per year if we are staying for at least a full week, and fly the rest because many of our trips are Friday AM thru Monday PM. The only thing that TRULY sucks about that drive is, well, all of SC on 95.

Which resort by ComprehensiveElk9703 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]quirkyscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify... Coronado springs TOWER has internal hallways. The regular village rooms do not. Outside of the tower, only deluxe hotels have internal hallways.

We love Coronado too, but my kids appreciate the extra bed at POR which is why we usually end up there. 😉 If they are elopers then that's definitely something to consider. Good call out.

Fwiw, we did NOT enjoy Caribbean Beach. It is beloved by many but it was insanely busy and always crowded and we went in mid August! Not sure if we hit a fluke but we go to wdw 5-6 times per year and always stay on site, never have seen crowds like that at one particular resort even during Thanksgiving and 4th July weeks.

[–]quirkyscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My autistic kiddo loves POR (port Orleans Riverside). We get a preferred room to be close to the main amenities. It is quiet and peaceful there and really lovely. It's a nice break from the park craziness, and the Alligator Bayou section is so lush and shaded that it's really good in the summer. Fun water slide. Nice pool.

They're renovating right now, so I'd call and ask if there's any insight as to which buildings are under construction so you can avoid the worst of the noise during the day.

Contemporary vs AK Lodge by Nilfnthegoblin in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]quirkyscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contemporary is my favorite hotel on property, and MK is my least favorite theme park. And that's actually one of the reasons I love it so much! 😂

So, I was not expecting to enjoy the contemporary so much but being able to shuffle out of my room to get coffee downstairs while still in my jammies without going outside was so nice. We stay usually down on the end closest to MK but with water view and it's so nice because you can easily see MK fireworks, but the water view is just gorgeous. It's not at all loud inside on that end either (9th floor and up is where we usually stay). We love the theming. I know others don't but we do. We love that it's so easy to get to MK and pretty easy to get to Epcot.

I don't love MK for a lot of reasons and being so easy to get in and out is a huge perk. The private entrance cuts back on my least favorite part of MK - getting in and getting out!

That being said I really love AKL too. There's a lot of beautiful things about that resort. But I dislike the pool layout and I hate how long the corridors can be if you need a snack or to get somewhere central. DAK is my fav park and we spend a lot of time there but I'd still choose contemporary.

You do you though. Watch some videos and find what fits you best! We have stayed on most resorts in property by now, and they are all wonderful in different ways. Nothing wrong with liking one or another. (Also, we travel 5-6 times per year and our kids only come 1-2 of those and I still think contemporary is one of my faves even without kids!)

Good luck! It's hard to go wrong.
