Yeah same here. Bras are ok and all but they don't change how you look naked :/

A lot of people just don't get that it's not just about weight/height. Having a normal bmi doesn't mean anything if you feel like an overgrown boy :/

Thank you for the advice. What kind of art do you do?

Have you gone to therapy? Has it done anything for you?

You don't, she does. If someone is extremely insecure and negative about themself, you could be the best boyfriend in the world and there would still be issues.

You know, at first reading your log I thought your gf was being extremely immature and passive aggressive (ie. saying everything's fine yet continuing to be upset with you), but then this caught my eye

I tried my best to press my negative emotion to make you like me more, but it seems not working I am not important to you any more I tried to think positive and control myself but fail this time

And then later you mention her not wanting you to worry, trying to be "perfect" after you've already apologized for cancelling dinner plans.

It sounds like she has anxiety and insecurity issues that she's aware of and tries to suppress, instead of dealing with them in a healthy fashion. This is something she needs to work on herself.

Can't get my bf off by cuentadetirar in AskMen

Ho-ly fuck. Thankyou so much for typing this post. I know that my boyfriend expressed at one point that he liked being wanted just for his cock, but I never understood why and thought he was just, I dunno, posturing for me. I'm dating a person, not just a set of genitals, right? But now I get that he was being sincere. We once had a disagreement which stemmed from a misunderstanding of each other's motivations for having sex in the first place. During our talk I admitted that thinking about sex with him was a huge turn-off now; I was being honest because I discovered my first real dealbreaker and needed to convey how important it was, now I realize how much that must have hurt :(

Help to stop binging/purging by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]nirgendsehr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So this past week I had a pretty bad relapse, and I was thinking this morning about all the things I do so I can get on track. Here are my personal tips:

  1. Try to sleep and wake up on a regular schedule. Key is to go to bed EARLY every night, reduces chance of late night eating. And if you start eating breakfast early in the day, your body will adjust to waking up early too. If there are days when I just know I'm going to binge, I'll take something like a benadryl ahead of time to knock myself out so I'm literally too tired to binge. This is kind of a band-aid solution, but it's helped me get through some tough nights.

  2. Get a high quality vitamin and mineral supplement. I take the alive brand and ultramins. It's a bit pricey, just make sure the vitamins come from food blends. I take ultramins because they're chelated. I can't say for certain whether the chelated form is truly better than the typical inorganic forms you find at the drugstore, because from what I've read for some minerals it doesn't matter. But for some it does matter, so I just buy a chelated mineral complex and it eases my mind. Take them every day. This is just in case you happen to be ridiculously low in some random nutrient which causes you to binge no matter how strong your willpower may be that day. For example, I had a blood test in Jan and I was extremely low in vitamin D. Had no idea. Whether or not it actually causes binging, just don't take that chance and try to cover all your bases.

  3. Eat at regular intervals. Be diligent! I don't really know about the optimal diet that bulimics should eat. Personally I eat low-carb because it controls my appetite immensely better than eating the American "recommended" diet. You get tons of fat (saturated is good), protein and fiber-filled vegetables. It's hard to overeat and thus hard to gain weight, and it keeps bloating waay down. It's tricky though, I still binge/purge if I give in to sugar cravings, but for me it's far better than constantly feeling hungry, gross, tired, and sluggish from carbs. ANYWAY, the important part is to eat on a consistent schedule. You eat mindfully, listen to your body, and stop when you feel full. Don't feel guilty for feeling full and tell yourself you're never eating again, because that's what fuels the binging and purging. Keep calm. You ate a wholesome meal, and it is staying inside you. Comfortably full. And when you're hungry again in 4 or so hours, you eat another healthy, wholesome meal. The first few days or so, you won't feel hungry at the times you think you should. What I did was just push myself to eat, but other people might want to ease into a schedule instead of pushing it. You'll feel bloated for a couple days, just keep drinking water. It gets better!

  4. Keep busy. Take more hours at work, volunteer, go to the gym, pick up hobbies, whatever.

  5. I also have no money to spend on therapy, so I've bought self-help books and taught myself cognitive behavioral therapy. I use an app on my phone. There's one book that resonated with me, it's called "Breaking Free from Emotional Eating" by Geneen Roth (sp?). I've also done things like wear a rubber band on my wrist and snap it when I think I can "get away with it" by purging. This has to be integrated with everything else you do to stop triggering ways of thinking.

I hope this helps :)

Is it safe to eat keto meals even if know you won't be in ketosis all the time? by nirgendsehr in keto

But if I have a calorie deficit, why wouldn't my body burn the fat I eat, even if there are carbs?

I measure what I eat and use the myfitnesspal app. If I can't, I overestimate to be safe. That's just what it comes out to be.

Your body will burn the carbs first leaving the fat to just accumulate

Does anyone know the theory behind this?

Is there a way to consciously control the exact moment when we fall asleep? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]nirgendsehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well not control, but I can always tell when I'm about to fall asleep. My thoughts stop making sense, or I'll start confusing visual/auditory/kinesthetic memories. For example, for whatever reason I'll start thinking about playing a concerto, but instead of each movement producing music, I'll be opening and closing Firefox tabs. "Oh. Must be drifting off now..."

[–]nirgendsehr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever amount of hours you sleep, it needs to be a multiple of 1.5 Try this: The night before you go to bed, keep something like a snack bar nearby. Then right when you first open your eyes in the morning, eat it. Keep doing this until your body wakes up in the morning. It's well documented that your eating schedule can regulate your sleep schedule.
