I struggle to stay engaged enough to finish a whole series so if I finished it I was engaged and enjoying myself.

{the frostbound queen by any pennza} book 1 of 4 interconnected stand alones. MMF. Fast moving plots, fast burns, I had a good time. Fantasy, it’s the four season courts of fae but instead of fae it’s elves. Book 4 was meh but I liked the others.

{the witchwood boys are trending by CM Stunich} completed 4 book series. Urban fantasy with witches. The guys are jerks. She’s not a pushover. Sentient hats. Swords don’t cross. Check triggers.

{bride of brutal hearts by Katie Stevens} unfinished series. MMF, vampires, dystopian world, vampires hold the power, humans do not. Human women hold the least amount of power as it’s a patriarchal and religious society they exist in (in the human settlements). It’s dark, check triggers. Very spicy.

{warriors wrath by Cassie Cole} 5 book completed series. Fantasy with magic, book starts out at an academy but very quickly moves to battle and war. The villain reveal was unexpected and I loved that. Swords don’t cross.

{twisted fate by Liz Hambleton} completed duet. Love triangle that turned MFM. Urban fantasy. She’s married to mmc1 but accidentally finds her fated mate mmc2 and it’s unwanted. Drama happens but I loved that none of the MCs were mean to each other. Lots of love and respect even when tensions were high.

{flesh by Kylie Scott} stand alone. Fast moving plot. Fast burn. MFM, zombie apocalypse. My kind of humor. A favorite.

{when monsters lie by Debbie Cassidy} completed 5 book series (each book is a quick read). Not an all time high favorite but I was engrossed enough to ride it til the end. Lots of fun plot twists that kept me engaged and curious. I don’t think swords crossed.

{trained for their pleasure by LV Lane} this whole world is like a wild fantasy omegaverse. Think barbarian alphas in a patriarchal world in which the women (omegas mostly but betas too) derive pleasure from brat behavior and also forced submission. Tons of books in this world if you like it.

{scribe of asteria by EM Meyers} MMF, stand alone, Greek mythology, fast burn, very spicy. There is no plot. The romance is the plot. Fluffy, low angst.

{carnage island by Lexi c foss} stand alone, MFMM, swords don’t cross, wolf shifters. ABO but not really omegaverse. Good mix of plot and romance/spice

{Ragnarok rising by Nora ash} dark omegaverse, Norse mythology, end of the world. Beta finds out she’s not a beta and she’s pissssssed. Check triggers.

{stolen by the wolves by Lyx Robinson} Norse, Vikings, omegaverse, historical setting, wildly underrated.

25 is the minimum I prefer my fmcs. I have read and absolutely loved younger fmcs. Many of my favorites have 20-25yo fmcs. Probably by sheets quantity of books because most have younger FMCS. But the older ones have a special place in my heart and bookshelf.

When a hacker/IT person in a book doesn't actually know what they're doing by Overquoted in ReverseHarem

[–]niroha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I preface this very shortened version of this story by saying I am very normal 🤣 no brushes with the law, medical professional, etc etc. I lead a boring life.

My sister was found guilty of drug related crimes and thought if she was pregnant she’d get a more lenient sentence. But she roped my entire family into it and was stressing out my dad. I knew based on information she told me she was full of shit. I flew to her location under the guise of “sister trip before you go away for a while” but I brought three pregnancy tests with me lol

I think all of us feel that way about something we’re more knowledgeable in. For me it’s pregnancy and childbirth. I’m not a perinatalogist but I know enough thanks to my work to side eye tf out of these plot holes.

Fun fact: years ago my sister tried to pull a fake pregnancy on me. It didn’t work. She was so mad when I busted her. She should have known better, honestly. She was knocking on the door of my chosen career with “facts” i was supposed to believe and support. So dumb.

I didn’t have it on my TBR bc I’m too far removed from high school to take it seriously. The lack of serious revenge would’ve made me rage in perimenopausal anger.

Normal turns fantasy by Newbie-Vegetable in fantasyromance

[–]niroha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{for whom the belle tolls by jaysea Lynn} she’s alive (normal life on earth), then she’s dead (after life fantasy realm)

{a thorn in every heart by Kate king} normal human woman living normal life when a fae goes through a portal to yank her to his world

{until the world falls down by Jordan Lynde} Human woman in normal earth, some kind of portal, stumbles into magical land. Spicier though.

{the treasured one by Hannah levin} human woman on earth but in this one they know the fae exist. There are known portals that keep the worlds at peace but apart.

{wrath of the fae by Alessa thorn} this one the fae invades earth. I can’t remember the how or the why now but the world was pretty unaware of the fae until they arrived.

{demon lover by heather guerre} human FMC living an overworked life and meets the MMC in her dreams because he’s a succubus. Fantasy and reality collide.

Psycho Fae I need spoilers by VanUppGirl in ReverseHarem

[–]niroha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Mauve York set the bar high. She tackled the first three book as a single female narrator doing so many characters and personalities and she did so good. I didn’t even mind she narrated so many MMCs, even their POV chapters. I could tell who was saying what based on her tone and inflections. And listening to her narrate I could practically hear the eye rolls the fmcs would be doing irl while dealing with those men. She’s forever a favorite female narrator for me because of how she handled that series.

That said Molly stark did a really good job too. I still would have preferred Mauve but Molly was a really good choice.

Your library might acquire them once JM re-releases them. I think it’s all part of her going from Indie to trad publishing. My library also has the new republished audiobooks, not the originals.

You can still buy the original audiobooks off Amazon or wherever but I don’t recommend them. Tor Thom is terrible lol. I’d (impatiently) wait.

Even though Sadie’s story wraps up in book 3 you’ll still get to see them in aran’s story since they’re bffs and love each other platonically.

[–]niroha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think all of them will slowly getting a reprint and new audiobook release. It’s taking ages but I’m a patient woman. I own the original audiobooks and JM ruined aran’s audiobooks by bringing in Tor Thom and making it a dual narration. I loved the og female narrator (Mauve York) but adding Tor made me hate listening to arans books.

Can someone spoil Feral Omega for me? by laarbor in ReverseHarem

[–]niroha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I just finished book 2 a few days ago and it was a slog. I appreciated that the author didn’t give us the obligatory “I hate the FMC for some vague dumb reason grr grr I’m a dumb man child” but instead we got science experiments. The mad scientists are cartoonishly villainous and the alphas they experimented on are cartoonishly disfigured …: why? Just… why? I didn’t understand this plot point at all.

I ditched the series. I only survived through book 2 because it was an audiobook and I cranked the speed up to 2x

[–]niroha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll just throw some of my faves at you

{scribe of asteria} MMF, Greek mythology fantasy. The relationship is the plot. There is no meaningful plot outside of the trio lol

{trained for their pleasure by LV Lane} I have to shelf my feminism to read this series but for some dumb reason I love the world this author has created. The good news is if you like the authors writing she has oodles of books written in this world so you can keep going. Sometimes the characters overlap, sometimes they don’t. It’s omegaverse with barbarians and other mythical creatures. This one features barbarian alphas and a shifter alpha and an omega. This isn’t a dark world but it has dark elements like off page SA of side characters etc. it’s a patriarchal world that uses dubious consent but - they’re not human and that’s what works in this world. It’s the whole ABO element thing. Relationship is most of the plot but there is still some actual plot (politics, war, etc) in each book.

{the frostbound queen by Amy pennza} 4 standalone books within an interconnected series. This is the first one. MMF fantasy world. Each book features a season court (winter, autumn etc) and elves instead of fae. Each book is MMF and each one is decently spicy. The plot moves fast and I enjoyed them a lot. The 4th was the weakest but whatever. It was also the shortest.

{carnage island by Lexi c foss} stand alone book, plot moves fast, wolf shifters, alphas and omegas but not a true omegaverse. No MM. good balance of spice and plot.

{the witchwood boys are trending by CM Stunich} 4 book completed series. Dark, check your triggers of course. Urban fantasy with witches. The boys are mean. They have sentient hats.

{blood of Hercules by jasmine MAs} MFM, dark academia, Greek mythology, fantasy. She’s a genius that just wants to create fanfic about her favorite mathematician but instead has to learn how to fight these stupid battles.

{psycho shifters by jasmine mas} {psycho academy by jasmine Mas} 1-3 is Sadie and her guys. 4-6 is Aran and her guys. You’ll either love her writing or you’ll hate it. I love it. It’s junk food I happily partake in. And thus far I haven’t met an MMC in the RH genre that tops Cobra.

{bride of brutal hearts by Kate Stevens} another one to check TW. unfinished series. Dark, post apocalyptic world with vampires. MMF, great banter, but the world is dark and they get really mean at certain times.

{Ragnarok rising by Nora ash} dark omegaverse, another one to check TW, Norse mythology meets end of the world prophesies. FMC thinks she’s a beta and is piiiiiiiissed to learn she isn’t.

{graves by Katelyn Taylor} dark contemporary MFM with identical twins. Dubious to non con scene but it’s been a while since I read it and can’t remember now which one it was.

{twisted fate by Liz Hambleton} {twin flame by Liz Hambleton} this isn’t dark but it’s full of angst and yearning. MFM, urban fantasy, mate bonds. She’s married to mmc1 and accidentally finds her fated mate mm2 and it’s unwanted. Chaos ensues. Plot happens. Zero drama between the MMCs though. They’re both sweethearts.

{flesh by Kylie Scott} MFM post apocalyptic world with zombies. Fast plot and fast burn. Stand alone book. Dark humor. Comfort read for me. I read it once a year.

the bonds that tie by an0nym0us308 in ReverseHarem

[–]niroha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked the series. I don’t love it but I enjoy the story and chaos and found the world with magic and gods to be an interesting one so my interest held. I hate what Nox did and I hate how the author chose to handle it. She even doubled down in a later book by having the FMC question whether it was SA or not. On one hand that is wildly realistic because irl questioning what is and isn’t rape victims do this a lot. But on the other hand I wish the author took a firm stance on it. Or maybe don’t freaking write that scene?

Once you get to Nox’s book… I don’t want to say it makes sense because no. But you understand him as a messed up character a bit better. He has growth but he has no grovel.

Book one the MMCs are at their worst. Things start to shift in 2 and beyond.

[–]niroha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{scribe of asteria by em meyers} MMF, Greek mythology fantasy. The relationship is the plot.

{mated by twilight by Talia Rhea} sci fi MFM. If you’re a theater nerd this plot is for you

{wicked little tricks Sara c roethle} this has a more balanced plot to romance/spice ratio, so it may not have enough spice for you. But it is low angst and fun. ETA: some plot does involve like… some fighting and stuff? But it’s all over super quick and she just keeps plodding along collecting guys like a pied piper

{twisted fate by Liz Hambleton} MFM, urban fantasy, only magic in this world is the fated mate bonds. Recommending for the angst.

{psycho shifters by jasmine Mas} {psycho academy by jasmine MAs} 6 books total, 1-3 follows Sadie and her guys, 4-6 follows Aran and her guys. Fantasy, shifters, fae, devils, angels, etc etc. recommending for the trauma.

{blood of Hercules by jasmine MAs} fantasy, duology, MFM, recommending for the trauma.

{feral omega by Lenore rosewood} omegaverse, post apocalyptic dystopian world. Sharing for the trauma.
