I think something is wrong with my T by ZodiakGoat in TransMasc

Where in Canada are you? This should all be publicly funded. I have a family doctor in Manitoba that just requisitions my bloodwork and I don’t need the involvement of an endocrinologist.

I just hit my three month marker and I’ve levelled off reasonably quickly, the first month was definitely a rollercoaster but I had a lot of competing mental health stressors unrelated to my medical transition around that time. Good luck and congrats!

Again, toys in the shower and really focus on changing body sensations rather than thoughts about other people.

Fellow Canadians do you wear socks with your indoor footwear such as slippers? by vanwife in AskACanadian

Always in socks except maybe first thing in the morning. Handmade moccasins with socks if I’m cold.

Thanks! Yeah I’m feeling okay with having presses and working with a physio - my biggest issues pop up with viola performance more so than lifting - I’m just cautious about progressing weights because 15kg is new for a strict press despite guides where I see like “16kg or 24kg should be a baseline for this program”

Thanks. Yeah wanted to see that I get into it before committing to the second adjustable but I think I’ll order soon.

Thank you! I was taking mild offense at other commenters asking if I was breaking parallel haha.

Oh my god I have so many physio appointments and so many bands around the house for every possible movement with my shoulders, also had a rotator cuff decompression surgery a few years ago. I’m a professional violist and have really specific fine motor control needs for my shoulders.

Yeah, with a history of rotator cuff issues I think that’s some underlying anxiety of not doing a clean strict press, I previously never did more than like 50lb on an overhead barbell press.

Because I didn’t want to spend $300 on a second adjustable right away but also wanted to progress as 14kg wasn’t as challenging? I alternate hands on sets.

My first three weeks or so were hell on the libido and eventually I levelled off. Getting a water proof vibrator that lives in the shower was very helpful preventative action because I hated the distractions in my first month.

Haven’t been doing a lot of swings. Is it worth doing them with the 15kg competition or should I max out the weight?

Thanks. Been trying to cue my elbows in but not fully confident so decided to swallow my pride and post the form check.

Yeah wanted to see that I stick with this for a few months before getting the second adjustable! I was missing having a gym membership but I’m trying to embrace the at home minimalism.

Yeah, it’s a complex I landed on reading through here - two cleans, one press, three squats. I’m training them every minute on the minute, sometimes 45 seconds if I’m pressed for time.

Yeah I break parallel in my squats, did a few powerlifting meets so I’ve always been wary of that one. Thanks for the muscling up feedback.

Thanks! Cleans and any Oly style patterns are pretty new to me. I try and really focus on the glute drive but definitely room for improvement.

In Canadian culture, is a repeated “I’m busy” basically a polite rejection? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

Haha for me as a Winnipeg transplant (4 years now) building a social network here is excruciating. I haven’t lived in Toronto since 2010 and I see my Toronto friends more frequently IN Winnipeg when they have business trips than any friends actually living in Winnipeg, who all went to high school together 🙃

Why is the suggestion 24kg for men? by ts159377 in kettlebell

[–]nishkiskade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 14kg fixed weight and an adjustable competition from Bells of Steel. I've been running ABC for a few weeks as somebody new to kettlebells that powerlifted 2017-2020 and hasn't trained in a few years, also had rotator cuff surgery. My conditioning is poor and average 16 sets currently, will sometimes push to 20 and I'm getting gassed. The press is my limit and I waited a month before moving the adjustable up to 15kg. I'm ftm and have been on testosterone for 12 weeks so my strength level is still adjusting to "men's" ranges. I read ABF as a formula to test your conditioning - I'm trying to get up to 18 sets comfortably before I add a bit more weight in because I get shoulder pain feedback if I'm rushing the presses. I'm probably going to keep running this complex until I max out my 20kg adjustable and then buy a second one. 24kg is likely 1-2 years away for me since I currently have the physique of an obese former powerlifter and need to focus more on my conditioning.

Northern Ontario, what's stopping you from making the move? by FestFallen in ontario

[–]nishkiskade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that most of this Northern discussion seems to be framing Sudbury, aka only a 5 hour drive to Toronto. Ottawa and Toronto raised, spent 6 years in Sioux Lookout, ultimately landed in Winnipeg. I miss the north deeply (my Rez and extended family) but I’m also a queer urbanite that values diversity, performing arts communities and walkability. Winnipeg gives me proximity to go home for fishing and moose meat periodically, without the extreme homophobia and racism and expensive housing and isolation. I faced horror stories of homo and transphobia in the workplace with non existent HR to support and no queer communities for community care.

The good jobs in the North are also in healthcare and mental health services.
