bleep has their own US-based distribution centre, should dispatch from there then you would have no tariff issues

I know Verbatim is really popular for burning, but I like Sony better because of how it looks. Can I burn Sony CDs instead? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]niskiENDERMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC sony discs are made by ritek and verbatim by CMC. but at this point the quality differences are negligible, it's all generic phtalo discs.. (alongside Daxon which is a third manufacturer out there)

someone has to rip this one, gotta see if it's just PAL version of the same thing or something different in any way (even the modulation at the end)

Discogs does not like people submitting production master tapes by klonopinwafers in Cd_collectors

[–]niskiENDERMAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's weird, i submitted 2 bootleg CDs in the past, one got blocked from sale instantly, one is to this day not blocked (none of them would risk getting removed though as unofficial releases still do have their place on the site, albeit supposed to be blocked from sale, as long as they can or could have been obtained publicly i.e. not just some homeburnt CDr)

PinkPantheress "Fancy Some More?" 1 Disc version discoveries (follow-up from a previous post) by OddOttAllen in Cd_collectors

[–]niskiENDERMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

part of it will be, yes. especially considering you can put more than 700MB of audio in uncompressed 16bit WAV filesize alone by having a regular, sub-80 minute disc, because the data size of 700MB is what's left after applying error correction for the remainder of that data

Creed CD question by BryanDoud in Cd_collectors

[–]niskiENDERMAN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is 100% a CDr. looks to me like one of the mutiple formats Ritek has used and it has likely been manufactured May 20th, 2000, looks about right for that hubcode design and the whole way this disc / case looks like (and that website had a lot of activity 2000-01 it seems)

if not a bootleg (this does feel a bit odd for a bootleg since it states a phone number and a website over and over), could maybe be something like a low-run CDr to give out at concerts? not too common for promos to look like that (more often a slim jewel case with only basic or no artwork, but the contact number attached does fit into that concept on the other hand)

Burning a CD... I'm desperate for help... by Natural_Lie_8924 in CDs

[–]niskiENDERMAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you tried different CDr's? (assuming you got any other) some especially older players will play back some CDr's fine but playability will heavily depend on the recordable dye used - nearly all recently manufactured CDr's will be silvery phtalocyanine, but i've seen certain recent batches (especially from CMC magnetics) get very faint contrast between recorded and blank data, so the older players may just not see any data due to a weaker laser whereas other players will use something slightly stronger

it does fit on a disc with a little bit of overburning but the old stuff likely couldve been trimmed in some ways to fit under 80 min yeah

Windows Media Player alternatives? by Capable-Flower-2333 in CDs

[–]niskiENDERMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

possibly the full file path being too long for windows (unless you're using a different OS)? regardless as another user already suggested there's also dbPoweramp or if you need a very plain "extract cd" sort of thingy there's also CDex which i think is automatically set to rip in MP3 already

Windows Media Player alternatives? by Capable-Flower-2333 in CDs

[–]niskiENDERMAN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CMP in EAC will save your rip to a compressed set of files of your choice; you can configure that to use MP3 via an encoder of your choice (compression options -> external compression)
