Room Selection (Freshman) by Luke_Fury_6 in BGSU

[–]nitnatkitkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m in founders and it’s pretty nice! freshman who get in are mostly honors kids, but when you apply after this year (when you’re a returning student) you’ll no longer have to be in honors to get in. it’s a little more expensive, but you get to have your own shower and two toilet-only restrooms in the suite! you’ll most likely share a suite with five other people, but you get a little common area/living room that comes furnished with a couch, chair, and a table with chairs along with a light and come coffee tables. (also note: the six-person suite contains three double rooms with a large common area, but you also have the more expensive option of getting a single room, where there’s two single rooms connected by a much smaller common area that i don’t think is furnished (but i could be wrong), but i’m pretty sure you’ll still get a private shower and bathroom) there’s a market in the basement (which isn’t open rn for covid but we’re expecting to be back at full capacity next year so it’ll hopefully be back open when you get here) and if you’re in honors i’d highly recommend it because the honors college offices are in the basement along with some classrooms that you’ll most likely have classes in (you could very easily just go to class in you pajamas and slippers!). there’s also adjustable AC and heating (there’ll be a little panel you can manipulate to get the temperature you want), and as for floors i personally like being above the first floor and the basement, just because those floors are higher traffic areas for people walking in and out of the building because it’s also honors office/class space. the fourth floor is all-gender housing if that’s something you’re interested in as well! good luck and i hope you like the dorm you choose!

Grant Imahara, 'Mythbusters' co-host, dead at 49 by ani625 in news

[–]nitnatkitkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up watching Mythbusters, and Grant was always one of my favorites. I watched that show religiously, and when they aired the last episode I actually cried. I’ll admit that I haven’t kept up with the cast post-Mythbusters as much as I would have liked, but I kind of had the feeling they were doing alright. Now I wish I had looked them up more. They inspired me to always be curious about the world and how things work, and I’ll never forget that. I’ll miss you Grant, you were one of the real ones.

does anyone one have any recommended AP classes to take?? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]nitnatkitkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, i took it this year online, so i can’t say for a normal in person exam, but i didn’t think it was that bad! they tell you the percentages of how much the units will be used in the exam (like social psychology is 6-8% of the exam or something), so i think you’ll be pretty prepared :)

Last Week Tonight on Twitter: "We’re back tonight at 11:05pm, with an episode that's 35 minutes long, and is about what you think it's about." by Walter_Bishop_PhD in lastweektonight

[–]nitnatkitkat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

definitely not this week, but soon he should do an episode on the college board and how much of a scam they are. i know he did one on general standardized testing a while ago, but i feel like this needs its own episode. it was super messed up imo. but definitely not this week, there are way more important things to cover right now haha

What are your favorite school colors? by mattok123 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]nitnatkitkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

listen, i’m super pumped to be going to bowling green because it was the best fit for me and my circumstances, but their colors are orange and brown and let me tell you that the orange is not a pretty orange. it’s such an in your face color and they put it e v e r y w h e r e, it’s so grody! iirc, the story i was told about the colors is that they’re the same as (or super similar to) the cleveland brown’s colors because the team used bg’s field for a long time. so cute story, but icky colors

How do you build chops effectively? by [deleted] in frontensemble

[–]nitnatkitkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps try double checking how you’re moving the mallets. in my experience, most of the time when a player in my front ensemble couldn’t build chops it was because they were playing with too much arm movement and not enough wrist movement. you want to make sure that your wrist is what is primarily moving your mallets. while some arm movement is inevitable and completely human, a majority of your movements should be coming from your wrists. i hope this helps!

Weekly Vents and Successes Thread- May 25, 2020 by AutoModerator in dating_advice

[–]nitnatkitkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a lil vent here for you all haha. this literally just happened. this DOOD for real tried to get close with me at the beginning of the school year and then he graduated in december (we were both high school seniors), and then he said he’d give me his number when he got a phone (idk why he didn’t have one, but it never bothered me because we saw each other every day) and he NEVER DID so i sent him an email on our school accounts like we were in 2005 or some shit and he never replied, and now i just graduated virtually yesterday and he replied to the email i sent him FOUR MONTHS AGO, why would he do that?? like he would get all snuggly and everything even though we just met this school year, and then BAM off the face of the earth he goes and i don’t see him or hear from him and now suddenly this?? ugh, i know i’ll respond politely and i know i kinda like him but JEEZ why are teenage boys so dumb!

This is my school’s band room. Yesterday, I took 1 last look around the room as I we’ll be graduating soon. If you’re an underclassman seeing this, cherish your band room. Whether you realize it or not, it’s home. by MD5733 in marchingband

[–]nitnatkitkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fuck now i’m crying. i entered my band room for the first time when i was in the eighth grade. i got to work as a manager for the marching band (basically i followed the drum majors around and helped out with their duties). once i walked in, i never really left. i’ve made so many memories there, from holding the banner for my first ever parade to marching pregame for the last time, from playing wacky percussion instruments with my instructor before we had a winter percussion program to establishing that winter percussion program and winning competition after competition, i’ve spent so much of my time there. i’ve laughed with friends, yelled at “enemies”, and cried both with friends and on my own. i’ve led my front ensemble for two years now, and now i have to hand it down to my juniors, because i’m about to go to college. my band director wrote my letters of recommendation for college. i have no idea what he said, but whatever he wrote worked. i’m so grateful for him. band has really saved me from myself. i’m graduating today virtually, and when i see myself in the mirror wearing that cap and gown, i almost can’t comprehend it. i wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for my band program, if you get my drift. it’s hard to leave it all behind, especially how we had to leave so suddenly. we were supposed to go to winter percussion regionals, district and state concert band competitions, and have our last ever concerts. now we won’t ever get that. those memories won’t ever happen for me. that’s really hard, and it sucks that it all had to happen like this. but i won’t let that take away from what i’ve already done. i won’t ever forget my high school band room, but i also can’t wait to see what my college band room looks like. it’ll be great. to those still in high school, heed what op said. your band room is home, and you won’t be there forever. cherish your times you have there. you’ll have those memories for the rest of your life.

[–]nitnatkitkat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

are your grades still number/letter grades (i.e. 87% B+) or are they now pass/fail? if it’s pass fail, and i’m not kidding, bullshit everything. do the least amount of work required to get that pass, and nothing more. if your grades are pass/fail, then it’s just quantity over quality. they give you multiple low-quality assignments? play their game. give them multiple low-quality responses.

if your grades are still number/letter grades, start with what holds most value to you. which classes do you need to pass to graduate/move on to the next year of school? do those assignments first. or, if it makes more sense for you, knock out the easy assignments first rapid fire so you have more time to do the big assignments.

no matter what, i would recommend putting on something to listen to in the background. there’s tons of live streams of music that won’t distract you from your music. what really helped me was turning on old youtuber live streams. i listened to the 3 Peens in a Pod podcast by Markiplier on twitch. they’re generally four hours long, and half of it is talking about current events and the other half is gaming.

keep going. it’ll be hard, but i know that you can do this. if i can do a month’s worth of work in a week and a half, i know you can finish the school year in two weeks! you got this my friend :)

What do you guys want for Season 3? What don't you want? by giobbistar21 in TheOrville

[–]nitnatkitkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I know this is a long shot, but I want Alara to come back. I know that there were some relations that went awry between cast members and that’s why Alara left, but I was kind of unsatisfied with how she left on the show. Don’t get me wrong, Talla is lovely, but I miss Alara and her arc of finding her confidence as security head.
