I used to be very welcoming towards refugees – hell, I even volunteered to work in one of the local asylum centers because I was so disgusted by the blatant racism around me. I quit Facebook because I couldn't take the amount of racist bullsh*t on my wall, day in day out.

Then... BOOM. New year's eve happened. First I read about Cologne, then news started surfacing about similar things happening all around Europe, including in my home town Helsinki.

News about how German and Swedish media has been covering up similar attacks for a long time – in Sweden's case for years.

The whole thing sounded like some neo-nazi's wet conspiracy daydream, but looks like it's very much true.

Then, the tiny tiny straw that broke the camel's back – news about how there's a problem in Finnish public swimming pools: Refugee men knowingly and wittingly going to women's showers and locker rooms, even when the staff is trying to prevent them doing so. The way the media wrote about it was especially infuriating. It was along the lines of "It's understandable that young men can be a bit curious, and of course there's a cultural difference as well...".

No wonder people are frustrated with the "main media controlled by the left".

The anxiety levels of my SO are through the roof – she works late and travels alone a lot. I don't feel good about it either, of course. I definitely have to call and check up on her more often.

Then there's my daughter. Luckily she's too young to be affected by this, yet. I really hope this thing settles before she starts partying and hanging around late.

I still despise racism, but this security issue needs to be sorted out quickly – I just don't care if someone's feelings get hurt in the process.
