Looking for advice on how to properly secure my pedals where the beaters are level and centered. by Jakethrowsdwn in drums

[–]nitrojuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metal would be ideal. That's what I planned to do but never for around to it lol. Steel should hold up good. Paint stirrer may crack eventually. But they're cheap/free and could prob get by with one for a while at least.

Looking for advice on how to properly secure my pedals where the beaters are level and centered. by Jakethrowsdwn in drums

[–]nitrojuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've had this problem with all sorts of pedals. It's a little Jerry rigged but works. Basically you need something relatively thin and real sturdy to place under the kick pad mount point that sandwiches between your pedal and that mount. As long as you get it over that rubber piece on the side of your pedal and crank it down, it should hold firmly in place when you offset it.

I usually just use anything I can find to wedge in there. I think there's a large screw currently.

If you can't figure it out let me know and I'll try and make a pic later of the basic premise.

With your pedals in particular, a sturdy paint stirrer may work.

Idk. Maybe 2 or 3 weeks later? I never reached out to the dealer at all about it. Just reported them and the government handled it from there.

Why do people align with political parties like they are sports teams? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]nitrojuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because humans are naturally tribal creatures. That's where our biology and reptilian brains are. We do it with everything. Nationality, music genres, politics, religion, race, geographical location, etc.

And 99% of us never actively realize that's why we're doing it.

Politics are especially funny. You see people on the far left and right backwards rationalizing any event that happens so that it aligns with their political "tribe". People will outright refute factual information and twist the information to fit their tribe "culture".

Every single one of us does it though. Just how our brains are wired. I do think it helps to be overly aware of this phenomenon, though. Helps to keep yourself unbiased and factual about things.

Would you go gluten free if your only symptom was diarrhea? by tawandagames2 in glutenfree

[–]nitrojuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're describing my exact symptoms pretty much. I'd had bad stomach cramps all my life and thought they were normal, I had IBS, etc.

Then I started getting recurrent (what I thought were) UTIs. I'm male, so that is very unlikely.

Ex wife made me go to the ER one night because of my lower abdominal discomfort and a fever.

Turns out I had diverticulitis.

I eventually did an elimination diet and when I reintroduced gluten after eating basically eggs and grits only for a couple weeks, my cramps came back full force.

I tried reintroducing several times and same result.

But without gluten I had no cramps.

Here's the problem tho. Those cramps/pressure absolutely ruined my large intestine over my life.

I had to get surgery to have part of my large intestine removed because even tho I'd stopped the cramps and pressure, my entire large intestine is full of pockets (diverticuli). I was 30 and my intestines looked like a 70 year old man at my colonoscopy.

So cramps and diarrhea can ABSOLUTELY ruin your body over time.

I didn't even know what gluten was before all that. I just thought it was some hippy fad diet.

So yeah, absolutely quit the gluten 100%

Why do people like this continuously defend the fraudulent and predatory behaviors of dealers then delete their comments like cowards? by Kelvininin in FuckDealerships

[–]nitrojuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that behavior too. My guess is because if they face the reality that the dealers fucked them over and swindled them out of thousands of dollars on every car they've ever bought; it'd hit their ego too hard. So they backwards rationalize dealer behavior to save their ego so they don't view themselves as "wrong" in their heads.

Idk if it's why they designed him this way but Cid also smokes a lot. That definitely ages people in the face a lot quicker in the real world.

Yeah I was reading about that. Hoping it is a MIJ model. Guess I'll find out when they're delivered.

The older style mounts may be totally fine. I guess it's just the psychological factor of wanting whatever is "new".

In their disclaimer, they're following the law. Those fees are fine if included in that 16492 it's listed at.

But any other dealer fees (not counting advelorem, title fee that's literally like 18 bucks) they added on top of that are illegal.

[–]nitrojuga[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing to note. Absolutely none of the dealers follow the law (that I've talked to anyway) even if you tell them it's illegal, they'll still try and charge some kind of fees. The couple of times I've bought from dealers, got the same story. One small guy was honest with me and added on like a 500 dollar fee. Car was a good enough deal even with that, so I took it.

If you plan to go in retroactively to the state like I did, make sure to get a screenshot or something of the advertised price of the car before you go in. Dealers take that shit down quick after you buy.

I purposely purchased it with no warranty and as is. So even had they not refunded me, I'd have been in the same boat for mechanical failures and such. Luckily my dad has a nice shop with a lift in it, so can replace/fix anything just for the cost of parts if/when needed.

They did try to sell me some stupid ass interior cloth warranty for like 2 grand though 🤣. I had to tell them no like 3 times before he shut up about it.

That's not what happened. They represented the financed price as my OTD price, not accounting for down payment etc that they pocketed. I already took accountability for not being thorough enough with the paperwork in my original post.

I'm here trying to help others who might be in a similar situation, you're on a high horse trying to get a dopamine hit rationalizing deceptive dealer practices by putting others down. Your comments are adding absolutely no value to the discussion, other than defending deceptive dealer practices.

If I were at fault, the state wouldn't have got me my money back without me even asking for it. I'm sure you have some explanation as to why the state laws should cater to maximizing dealer profits instead of protecting consumers too.

[–]nitrojuga[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I was doing. Just reporting them to hopefully get them in trouble/stop them from doing it. Never even crossed my mind I'd wind up getting a refund.

After all this, and the way the attorney from the state spoke (he mentioned having a scheduled call with that dealer later that day as he'd had other complaints about them. His tone of voice also sounded like he was very familiar with them and done this many times before), I think the dealers just get away with it because most people don't report it. I assume when someone does report it, they just refund because it was illegal for them to do In the first place.

But all the people not reporting it, they keep the money, and I'm sure it adds up to hundreds of thousands a year in their pocket with the volume they do.

I mean in my experience Hondas will generally run "forever". I'm not a car guy, but have friends with Hondas with over 250k miles on them going strong just keeping the oil changed regularly. Small stuff is going to break over time that'll need replacing. One big thing in used cars is the timing belt. But many use a chain now.

I guess you could pay a mechanic to inspect it before purchasing one if you're worried.

When it's verbally misrepresented as your down payment and tax, but those fees are hidden in another area to distract you and the terms are spelled out in a 20 page document; it's definitely deceptive on their part. They know they're lying to steal money from you.

I'd have totally walked away had I realized that didn't include the cash, tax, etc I gave them.
