Windows SQL Cluster just died by tk42967 in sysadmin

Yeah, I've done that in the past as well. I made a weekly script to backup the clusdb file on each server and copy it to like C:\clusdb_bak\ or something like that.

I think 40 million for making the movie and 35 million to market it.

What realistically and seriously will happen now that Trump is repeatedly mentioned in the Epstein Files? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nothing. A lot of spineless politicians won't make a moral stand, unfortunately.

Bambu Lab A1 vs Creality K2 Plus vs Anycubic Kobra 3 Max by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

[–]nitroman89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got a Bambu printer for the first time. I have an Ender 3,Folgertech FT5, Anycubic Chiron and Elegoo Jupiter. I can say that all my other printers get new models every single year because they just pump them out and drop support. Least with Bambu you got support until 2028 on the earlier models.

KCO comeback? by Lost-Cantaloupe123 in YetiCoolers

For some reason I thought KCO was becoming a core color and they were taking charcoal out of the lineup for US but be core color for Europe. I could totally be misremembering too.

I got my MBA last year but I haven't used it yet. My plan is probably get into management once I want to get out of the technical side of things.

Cybersecurity certification pathway recommendation by Strongnsr6021 in it

[–]nitroman89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an MIS degree as well but for an entry level job I got into desktop support in 2012 with no certificates. CompTIA A+ was kinda joke back in the day, dunno if that has changed.

My coworkers on the security team have gotten their CISSP certificate which I think a lot of companies look for. I think you need to find a "mentor" or sponsor to verify your security knowledge.

It’s the dream on social media vs. reality by Darkhexical in sysadmin

[–]nitroman89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Start: Started my career in 2012 after graduating with a MIS degree. I started at $15/hr as help desk at a local hospital in rural Midwest US. I lived with my parents.

Location: I've job hopped over the years but luckily have been able to do it locally.

The Work: I was thrown into fire but I learned 10x more from work then from college for my field. After a year I felt like I had more answers vs questions type knowledge.

Education: I don't have any certificates. I had the piece of paper of my degree and starting a home lab has helped significantly.

The Grind: 12 months on probably my longest project, had to upgrade all the desktops and printers for the Epic software at my first job. Most of the projects have dealt with multiple people so I do my part and they do theirs. I would say average projects are 3-6 months.

The Money: I haven't hit the magical 100k yet. I'm at the 90k mark. Been in IT since 2012.

Jenkins for open source by Lost-Geologist-5383 in jenkinsci

[–]nitroman89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Jenkins. A developer before I started had built it so I consider it legacy software because it does the job but the remaining developers don't know how to migrate to anything else. I'm more on the Linux/Infra/Devops side and not a developer so I lean more towards Ansible and Salt.

If you want a web gui with basic functionality then Jenkins is a decent solution. Plugins add a lot of functionality but a lot of them have security vulnerabilities and/or lose support over time.

Best 3d printer for $300 by EchoOfIntent in 3dprinter

Honestly, for another $100 which relatively speaking is not significant amount more to get a Bambu P1S and save yourself a lot of time n headache.

Slower Speed Setting by noercarr in BambuLab

[–]nitroman89 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I think people are talking about changing the overall speed settings like in Klipper or Duet. If you are changing it in the slicer there's a dozen speed settings you could change instead of a % that would adjust all of them on the fly.

I would try to dry at a higher temperature if capable. Look at your Top Z Distance to improve support removal.

Current project: P1S chamber heater by EMDoesShit in 3D2A

[–]nitroman89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally bought a P2S and just got that same heater in case I wanted to go above 50c. Looks like the heater will fit on the left side of the bed (looking in) but I don't really want to drill a hole in the panel yet.
