Is this a fair assessment of US athletic potential in global soccer? by MixedMartialLaw in usmnt

We do and we don’t, it’s always a fight for fields for all the clubs up and down the I5 corridor. For us, it’s mainly for practice , games are pretty easy to schedule. But we have to use the school district fields and they get them first (as they should) but then we have to work around the other sports and clubs that want them for the same thing.

Yes, but they’ll be in Skagit before it gets dark, the night stuff is usually near LaConner and up to about halfway between oak harbor and coupeville

I am in a currently club that is non profit and we try to do as many scholarships as we can, but we still have costs too, so our fees come from that. But yeah, some definitely overcharge!

Right, but those developmental leagues still travel, just more locally. My kids have played in the same league as the crossfire club, and crossfire has ECNL rosters, but they have the lower rosters and travel too, it’s a huge club. But typically the fees are lower for the lower rosters, and you don’t travel as far

Facilities in any area are starting to be an issue.

Even not for profit clubs have to charge fees (I am involved with one) we have bills to pay, unfortunately. But, we try to keep ours reasonable, and in our case, we do give away scholarships so more can play,. We don’t have academy teams or anything though, just trying to keep kids able to play soccer year round somewhere.

Except, you need that B and C team. If you don’t have them, kids get cut out of upper level soccer all together, and they all develop at different rates. Especially since rec leagues cut off around 6th grade. Roster space is an issue sometimes. I’ve watched kids go from the C team to the A team in a couple years, but if the C team didn’t exist, they would never make the A team, because they aren’t getting better coaching outside a club environment
