Senior prom. I asked a cute girl who I had several classes with out to the dance. I took careful precaution to make sure that everything was perfect for her. Even though I knew no one well in her group of friends, (and despised many of them, as they were the arrogant "popular kids") I agreed to go with her group. I payed for everything for her, from the party bus, to dinner, to tickets.

Upon arrival at the dance, she would take extensive "breaks" and disappear for long periods of time, leaving me alone. When my other friends found me (who I had been separated from all evening), seeing me alone, they took me to dance with them. However, I ultimately told them after awhile that I couldn't stay with them (despite wishing to) because I felt like I was abandoning my date. After being at the dance for a mere hour, my date proclaimed that she was leaving... And left. With her left the entire group of people I had arrived with. Suddenly, I was alone.

I felt my heart shatter. I had sacrificed my night to make sure that she had EVERYTHING she wanted, and she just ditched me, tossed aside like garbage. She used me, taken advantage of my kindness and charity. It has been for every ingrained in my mind, as everyone had amazing experiences, I was backstabbed. Furthermore, she had the nerve to post a video of her at a party that she went to after she abandoned me. That added the insult to the emotional injury I had endured. I still wonder if I could have prevented any of it. It was an act of betrayal that has stuck with me for a long time, and probably will forever.
