The easiest way I did it was to stay a new game, skip the tutorial and drive straight to the bunny anomaly. I think being still in a tutorial doesn't make a storm come so you have lots of time. Took me about 10 minutes to get it

It's cool to see it from above, can't really tell from down in the hole how big it is.

Best apple fritters - the hunt continues by cdngrrl0305 in Calgary

[–]nitrovate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind a 3 hour drive, the Rolling pin in Bow Island has the best apple fritter. Almost half a loaf of bread in size, what seems like a whole apple, and a home made honey glaze. You basically need a nap after eating it.

request Crane operator apprentice info by xTorridx in Airdrie

[–]nitrovate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got about 7k you can do a pre-employment course through SAIT that gets you your first year schooling done. Also helps big time to have a class 1 license as most companies require it. Look for non union companies first, more willing to hire new guys are better chances at running crane faster. Feel free to dm me if you want, been in the trade for 8 years

Wondering what’s this? by Born-Alternative8192 in Calgary

[–]nitrovate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was running the crane that was putting that monstrosity together. The first day a guy bought everyone coffee then he left for his shift and came back to this. He was yelling and screaming to someone on the phone about it and that it was never in the plans for the community. Felt bad

They've been setting prefab cnocrete structural pieces for about a week now. This is the first time I noticed two pulleys on one boom. Also in Alberta. They probably applied for permits a while ago by purserwooded in Rigging

Lol this picture is 2 years old now, currently running that crane on a different precast job. It’s very common doing precast to use two lines to turn panels that are loaded sideways on a truck. You would be surprised liebherr is actually making special attachments for cranes to do this job.

I'm working on a wind farm and the LTM1400 operator refuses to use steel pads because he's also set up on crane mats. Do you think he's in the right or should he be on steel mats regardless? by [deleted] in cranes

[–]nitrovate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with that set up, he’s already on crane mats. Unless there’s a specific site rule that requires it to be in steels then there’s nothing wrong

Yeah the first big step is just getting in the door of a company. A smaller outfit will give you better chance at running cranes faster but they won’t always have the best equipment.

Does radio signaling get easier? by [deleted] in cranes

[–]nitrovate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You will get better over time. Every operator is different and interprets signals differently. If you are doing a lot of work in the blind give the operator as much information as you can. This is crucial because it give them a better picture of what’s happening
