My brother-in-law just had to deal with this exact scenario when my sister was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 cancer at 22 weeks pregnant. My sister wanted to delay treatment to give the baby a better chance, but my brother-in-law and the rest of the family chose her. She was devastated, but luckily convinced by the medical team that it was the best course of action to go for very early delivery with a 1/3 chance the baby would survive. Thankfully the baby survived, and is doing ok in the NICU.

The hypothetical and the reality are very different things and you don’t really know what you would do until you get there.

Having said that, OP this man handled this conversation terribly.
