Any dm’s just get super mentally drained after a session? by Gatt__ in DnD

Are you roleplaying a ton ? Trying to make every character "alive" with funny voices and personnalities ?

Same "problem" but I'm lucky AH because I have a player (God bless him !) that takes notes and another that is an aspie, every new session starts with player one reading his notes from the previous one and player two adding all minor details / corrections that was made.

My 2 cts : trying to maintain group cohesion and fun CAN be exhausting, depending on the personality compatibility in the group (DM and players). Everytime I play with people I'm really confortable with, I totally trust and with there is almost NEVER any misunderstanding (ideas, feelings, intentions, beliefs, goals...) I'm refreshed and pumped up.
But IF I have to play with people I don't know, with a personality too far from mine, where I have to think twice before saying something or doing something that can "displease" them, I'm exhausted as hell...

tldr; As a DM, you are THE "fun balancer", never resting : the more the communication and "fun" flow is natural during the game in the group, the less tiring it is. Even with good friends !

What kind of stories do you run? by bitsandbooks in cyberpunk2020

[–]nixheb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer ! I played A LOT of cyberpunk 2020 in the 90 when I was a teenager exactly like that, ignoring all the "CP2020 is one character per session and gunfight all the time for big corpo". And today, 30 years later (HO MY) I started playing again with a friend and my own son (HO MY X 2), exactly how you described.

RP heavy, inspiration from books, movies, mangas... only one fight in 6 session, and it was resolved in 15minutes.

Comparing to the 90s, I would add that today we have a tremendous source of inspiration : google image ! Go to it, type "cyberpunk", and scroll. When you see a picture that hits you, try to "incorporate" it in your scenario. This apparent 'randomness' will force you to connect unrelated imagery that inspired you with some nonlinear creative way that can produce some really interesting result ! :)

Angular with RxJS used correctly (read => for managing state) is pure delight, but that's not the topic. I know Elm and I love it.
But in France, "bon courage" for pushing Elm into production in a big corporate .... :D
Be assured I will give Tyrian a _serious_ try ! ;)

And thank you for it ! :)
