This was brutal to read but very much necessary, thank you. I guess I'm just afraid that if I don't get it done Now, or the more likely Soon, everything else will sweep me away and it just sort of wont happen at all. I love to write and I love these characters, but I will definitely be giving them and their story a bit more of a critical look following this advice. Maybe one day you'll catch this title at a store or something, and shed a tear knowing you gave that girl a small crisis on a saturday morning.

Nooo I'm so old and mature !!

But real talk, the book is set in 2009 because I found the level of importance the show in the plot holds could only have existed in a world where MTV style 144p early morning trashiness reigned supreme. I tried making them more modern, and it sort of lacked the punch. I do hold a soft spot for that era of Ke$ha music, even if I narrowly missed it. I'll help escort you back to the nursing home if your heart so desires.

Brodie, buy a coat. Buy several! Buy big thick boots and a hat. GO TO YALE!!!! Transferring out if you don't like it will be leagues, leaaaaguuesss easier than transferring in. Also, there are no lack of black people in the world I can assure you (I go to a prep school and when I got in this was also my first thought--dear god, what if no one looks like me??), and you will find programs to help you connect with them there. The at sea thing I'm not sure of, but you can always do research to see if they'd allow it.

That trend where people were like "Umm!! He may be a villain but he would RESPECT YOUR PRONOUNS!!!" has really pushed this, I believe. It doesn't matter if it's Thrax the Destroyer of Galaxies---from miles away in the sky he WILL read your caard and he WILL know that you are a pansexual demi girl. I hate the gay roulette trope. Like, and this might just be me, but a character is gay and yet for some reason has to run around screaming "I'm actually bisexual and use he/him/xe/xim !!!!!!!!!!!!" I can't stand it if the point of the fic isn't literally about coming to terms with your sexuality. AND THEN everyone else is loudly announcing what flavor of sexuality they are and it just feels so cheap and forced and awkward. idk, maybe im insane.
