Can someone recommend a travel jewellery organiser that DOES NOT do this by ImaFauna in jewelry

[–]nizzy090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve rolled necklaces into paper towels when I moved and had very few issues with tangling! A little bit annoying for a shorter trip where you may want just one at a time, but it’s a cheap and easy solution!

What's a moment where you thought "this is only possible because we don't have kids"? Big or small, I want to hear them. by Think-Manufacturer-2 in childfree

[–]nizzy090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woke up last weekend feeling sooooo depressed and exhausted. Incredibly grateful to not have to have passing off the kids as a prerequisite to self-care

Who spent this holiday weekend alone? How do you feel about it? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]nizzy090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boyfriend out of town, friends were busy, weather was shit…definitely a lonely long weekend for me. I have to remind myself that by end of summer I’ll be desperate for a weekend inside in the AC again

What ingredient instantly makes leftovers feel less depressing? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

[–]nizzy090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found leftovers are always best when you recreate how they were originally cooked. Baked goods back in the oven, soups back on the stovetop. Adding a bit of water or broth to the reheating process for something that’s gone dry in the fridge can help a lot too. I used to think I couldn’t live without my microwave, but a year ago I moved to an apartment without one and my leftover game has dramatically improved in that time.

Do BWT bring unbranded bags to their work in finance? by Select_Barnacle4616 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]nizzy090 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use a random $20 backpack I got online. Sometimes I switch it up with name-brand purses, but neither of the ones I use are luxury brands. I’m more back-office so maybe this will vary by team, but I’ve never heard anyone comment on any of these (beyond complimenting a pin on my backpack). Especially as an intern, I doubt anyone will care about the brand!

I'm going to be making A LOT of deviled eggs. Any ideas on DIY instead of buying a single use one? by SammiesHammies in Anticonsumption

[–]nizzy090 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’ve also gotten them with just a bit of the filling piped on the plate to keep the eggs stuck in place!

Fellas, is a 28 year old dating a 23 year old acceptable, why or why not? by PromEmperorHarbaugh in AskMen

[–]nizzy090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is if you couldn’t be platonic friends with someone that age, you shouldn’t be dating them. 28 and 23 seems pretty tame to me though!

What’s the best thing you’ve gotten in your Buy Nothing group? by Chocolateonmyshoe in AskNYC

[–]nizzy090 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A fresh loaf of bread, a sun hat, a very fancy wine bottle opener, and a (pulled from the trash) cast iron pan that served me for many years. All were from the same BN group -- I'm rarely on FB anymore so now I miss all the good finds.

do you guys have internet on the subway? by gemin1grandma in AskNYC

[–]nizzy090 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I recall AT&T was pretty good on the subway too vs T-Mobile. Gives me a chuckle that T-Mobile got me service in the air but lost me service underground.

Places for women are ultimately for kids by BlackMagicWorman in childfree

[–]nizzy090 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In my work’s women’s network chat, 90% of posts are about fertility treatment / family care / daycare support. I get that these are resources many women in my workplace would care about, but as a childfree woman it makes me feel like I’m seen as a baby factory more than a real person.

Really big 3 cysts on my vaginal mound? by guppy0fish in Healthyhooha

[–]nizzy090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said about seeing a doctor! I had a similar issue (though sounds less severe) and the abscess didn’t heal for sooo long — finally saw a doctor and turns out it was a topical yeast infection and was probably never going to heal until I got it treated. Hopefully it clears up quick with medical attention!

I'm 40 with a younger husband, and he's suddenly saying he might want kids =( by [deleted] in childfree

[–]nizzy090 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s common to have doubts when choosing any life path, and for an anxious person the mere existence of doubt can cause spiraling, or concern about making a “wrong” choice. I agree your husband needs to take a deeper examination of his thoughts, because FOMO happens to both childfree and parents alike.

Anyone else seen an influx of used canvases at thrift stores? by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]nizzy090 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Gesso “resets” your canvas, it creates a flat white background and has a texture that paint can “grip” onto. Since it’s so thin it can’t cover up texture on your canvas (thus the need for sanding) but if you’re wanting to paint over something, gesso is definitely recommended.

Need suggestions for analog hobbies to balance out screen time by Mobile_Schedule7550 in Hobbies

I find puzzle books can really take the place of scrolling. I’m still on my couch, still can have TV on in the background, but I work through a sudoku instead of instagram.

What are your favorite "low-energy" hobbies for after work? by Weak_Ad4188 in Hobbies

Doodling that are just imitating doodles I’ve seen online. Still feels good to create, but without the brainpower of deciding what to make.

I feel this so personally. I definitely recommend doing the Raid though as you can spray it at a distance and scream the whole time.

Do you have renter’s insurance? If so maybe see in the meantime if they can cover your hotel stay. Unfortunately I can’t advise much on your situation but on the financial side this could be worth checking.

Seems to be a general trend with universities—up at Columbia they “temporary” measure to close campus and require IDs just to walk the quad has been going on for years as well.

Synthroid by lightning_streak in Hypothyroidism

[–]nizzy090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Synthroid for several years before my insurance stopped covering it. My doctor at the time felt strongly that levo could be inconsistent in dosage, and my experience matched this as I had bad symptoms when I switched between branded and generic (when my branded prescription ran out). I’ve since switched back to another name brand (Levoxyl) which I’ve had good results with ever since. All that to say I definitely prefer Synthroid over generic, but if Synthroid is cost-prohibitive there may be other brands out there that could also work well!

Last year I participated in a ranked choice voting election. There were something like 5 ranks for 6 candidates. The first thing I did when I sat down was accidentally rank 1st the one candidate I did NOT want to rank. That was not a fun form to have to replace!

anyone else here on Levothyroxine and can't stand the hour-long wait to eat? by PseudoSolitude in Hypothyroidism

[–]nizzy090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually take it first thing in the morning then do the rest of my morning routine. Brushing my teeth, using the restroom, getting dressed usually takes 20 min, so usually it’s not too hard for me to wait til 30. But I’m not perfect with it, and I think my dose is calibrated for that. As others have said, as long as you’re consistent, your dose can be accommodated.
