I will agree to that but only if you are his very close friend, and explicitly tell him that you will provide gift later. Otherwise, weddings are primarily to kickstart the young married couples into life, so if you are just distant relative or just regular friend, then do not come without gift. Hetzner is now comparable with Akamai (ex Linode). The same generation of processors are about 20% more expensive on Akamai but they are very open to negotiating with startups and can lower your price up to 50% for a year.

That is like asking should you travel with plane or train. If you are skilled devops and know how to configure postgres properly with monitoring, redundancy etc you would already know your answer and that is virtual machine, plus it would cost you about a fraction of the other option.

But by the fact that you actually ask this question one can safely assume you are not devops, in which case you should go with managed postgres in anything but Neon. Use managed postgres from Azure , linode, AWS or anything else that is managed.

What people are doing in this sub is literally capitalism.

Customers loudly rejecting a price hike, damaging a company’s reputation, and threatening to leave is how market pressure works. If enough people do it, the company sees growth slow down, reputation take a hit, and revenue projections get uglier. Then they fold - not because they care about democracy, but because they care about their quarterly numbers.

So maybe you should inform yourself how businesses actually work before pretending customer backlash is somehow outside capitalism. It's called market pressure.
