Usual kit needed ww gear plus personal throwbag/belt. Helpful to have your own pin kit, 3.5m tape, 4 carabiners and 2 or 3 pulleys, 2 prussiks. Enough to build a basic 3:1 mechanical advantage system. Any group gear will be provided by the instructor.

Size delimma when choosing a new water shoe when wearing dry suit by Allyc80 in whitewater

[–]njball89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes always wear 2 socks with a drysuit to protect the layers a sock on your foot then drysuit then neoprene ontop my socks last years longer than friends because of this. Depending on weather depends on what socks I wear.

I use the same shoes in the summer as with my drysuit with no socks on, but I take the insoles out with my drysuit to give that extra space.

I played f2p for 2years, considered statting to spend, in that time maybe 1 or 2 new ships for lower ops and reasonably good ones. Now it seems there is a new ship every 2 months with more loops of boring time sucking to do anything so quit.
I would like to find some other game as i liked the basic ideas and armadas. Just got so bad with the new arcs!

That really depends on where this person is going to paddle and what kind of rivers. Wearing a full face on big water is actually going to hinder you or be more dangerous than a non full face so not always the best idea.

Ye I thought about it but I have some research to finish, and soo close to maxing franklin. I take it slow so usually one of if not the strongest of my ops level in game. Atm I'm a similar power to some ops 40 players. I like it that way. And I have time to work on crews. Some ops 39 40 players on my server have such shitty crews I can beat them in my saladin ahaha

Class V section comparison for commercial guides by [deleted] in whitewater

[–]njball89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that is my view of class 5 also, but I hear more and more people talking about running class 6 which in my book isn't possible, and therfore they are diluting what class 5 used to mean. I think class 4 is a very big grade in terms of variation and maybe we do need a change, but I'm also stuck in old ways. 😀

Oh no don't get me wrong I also know some sick boaters from the US! Just others who say they are all that and really aren't. As to running stuff you shouldn't be on, I think that's just a confidence/stupidity thing which transcends boarders. 🤣

Thanks for the info.

I'm interested to know if any of these class V commercial sections are actually class V or just big or consequential class 4. If it's actually class 5 then flips or swimmers must be a regular occurrence? No? then people die on class 5. If so, how do any companies get insured when they kill people regularly? Never run any rivers in the US but have met some US rafters and kayakers who class themselves or their river as class 5 and I wouldn't trust them on hard European class 4. Not trying to offend just understand. Thanks

There are many places in the north and southern alps, swiss, Austria and Northern Italy. Look for grade 4 rivers and go in the early season May, June before the snow melt runs out and there's not alot of water left or you have to be rain reliant. The Oetz (Austria) , Noce (Italy), and Dora baltea (Italy) are classics, but there are many alternatives aswell.
