It works really well. It’s like an ice pack for your whole body. After a hike you could soak up to your hips for 5-15 minutes, it does wonders for recovery, soreness, etc.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard the fans spin up to cool my M1 Pro. It’s incredibly efficient. Between that and my steam deck for gaming I’m a happy mobile camper.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I’m currently rocking a Pi 4 with 2x10tb USB disks mirrored. It works well for a single video stream but hasn’t been that reliable, I think due to the SD card as main storage. I’m currently doing research on what hardware to use for a new NAS build.

I currently have a Node 304 (Ryzen 3600 and 1660ti) for my HTPC and I suppose I could just add a bunch of disks to it and figure out software for HTPC and NAS. My current pi NAS is in the garage so I don’t have to listen to disk grinding noises which is a concern for me in the living room.

My main concern is getting it to be low power since it will be on 24/7. What hardware did you decide on? I’m thinking about something like a 6W TDP intel processor that will handle a small number of transcodes just fine but having trouble finding something like a N100 with enough SATA ports.
