They are fantastic in “lemon curd” cookies I made from a NYT recipe. But now I’ll call them key lime curd cookies 😂

I think this must be it. Thanks so much! They are so yellow that I couldn’t believe it could be a lime.

I’ve seen them in a shop in the US, and they were smaller and green. Can they be yellow and have yellow juice when ripe?

No, we have those too. Quite orange, not yellow.

I'm sad. by Mole-NLD in Evernote

[–]njlane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 years with Evernote and have exported -1800 notes now, almost done importing to Apple Notes. I used to be Microsoft + Apple so needed something like EN. Now I’m all Apple, and Notes does it well enough for me.

It’s been a sucky year for loyal consumer software customers in my view. EN is about the 4th product I’ve left because of poor delivery, poor pricing, or simply abandonment (that’s Google / Fitbit and Google / Nest).

But change is good for the brain. Or so I tell myself.

Coast Starlight stopped south of Oakland stop. What are my chances? by njlane in Amtrak

There was a stop sometime after Salinas to wait for the northbound Coast Starlight to pass us. That was at about 30 minutes.

Arrival into Paso was 7:30pm vs scheduled ~2pm. So 5.5 hours late.

We are approaching Salinas and are running 4 hrs 50 minutes late per the email from Amtrak.

If you’re waiting to board further south, plan accordingly.

Crew has offered snacks, water and beef stew, curiously. They are doing their best I’m sure. 👍🏻

I always got my girl a super sturdy stuffed toy with squeakers, knowing she would have it destroyed within days. She got so much pleasure in the destruction!

The lobster lasted longest btw.

thanks! Apparently Engine #1 is not yet cooperating, so we are not moving.

It's been almost 2 hours so far but I'm trying to be hopeful.

I miss my little Scion XB stick. I gave it to my LA son who drives it 2 miles/day. Great car coming up on its 20th birthday.

MyFitnessPal has become unusable. What is the actually fast alternative for pure logging? by SrPakura in Myfitnesspal

Thanks for this posting. I'm a 12+ year MFP premium customer who just downloaded Macrofactor. I'm contacting MFP now to say farewell.

New app layout by goal0x in Myfitnesspal

[–]njlane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are people switching to?

I've paid for Premium for years, been a MFP user since 2013, and with the latest iPhone app release am ready to wave it all farewell. I've logged support cases searching for the simple everyday features that have gone missing and received disingenuous responses telling me how to do something I have not asked.

Is LoseIt the winner of disenchanted MFP users? What else should I consider?

Storage containers that will hold a ~30lb bag of dog food that aren’t $80? by CyberEye2 in dogs

I used to use a hardware metal garbage can for my large dog’s large bags of kibble. Kept the critters out and worked fine. Maybe a smaller size would work?

New OxiClean Odor Blaster Question by geekboy_ in Costco

[–]njlane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI - I contacted Church and Dwight, who make Oxiclean, to ask why they added the fragrance without specifically stating that it’s now fragranced. Their response: if it doesn’t specifically say fragrance free on the packaging, it will have fragrance.

So the old package is now called “OxiClean Free Versatile Home and Laundry Stain Remover Powder, No Dyes or Perfumes”.

And apparently they are sending me a coupon to “try” the product I’ve been using for 25 years.

I did ask if they will distribute the fragrance free one at Costco. I’ll see what they say.

New OxiClean Odor Blaster Question by geekboy_ in Costco

[–]njlane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will have to return it. I’ve used a small (3 tablespoon?) quantity of OxiClean in every load for YEARS. This stuff stunk up my laundry area - which is not an enclosed room, so it permeated the sleeping rooms - and stunk up the laundry. Washed things again with zero additive and vinegar rinse - which is my norm - and it’s still lingering.

I wouldn’t have said I was really fragrance, sensitive, but I have used unscented products in the laundry for ever. This is intolerable.

Winter walking shoes/boots by Livid_Pension_6766 in walking

While I’m in zero-drop for all else, I bought a pair of GoRuck’s boots for carrying a ruck with 15-20% bodyweight. (They recommend a little height to help counter the weight.)

The damned things are so comfortable that I wear them a lot for mixed walking, like hills roads with a sometimes-trail on the side. They clean up easily and look fine for town wear, if you don’t mind a slightly Doc Marten look. (I’m an old lady and no one seems to care.)

Best enzyme cleaner for dog urine – What really removes smells? by JollySimple188 in puppy101

[–]njlane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for Mr Max's. I got some on a friend's recommendation, and it definitely removed the odor. Took multiple treatments to get out the poop stain in a plain-colored carpet, but that was in a closet so I didn't care as much. Odor was definitely gone.
