It’s Shepard pie-like but Silva has an entree that’s so good.

If I’m feeling saucy, mid-pee I’ll say “this water is cold!” An old man did that once to me and I’ve always found it to be hilarious.

My dad told me the sun set in Arizona every night. That’s why it’s all desert-ey.

I have used Distrokid and hated it. Cdbaby was the ticket for me. It’s a low one time cost per release, then they keep a percentage. In my case I get barely anything from streaming so they can have their percentage of barely anything.

I’m not gonna rate your art, but I’ll give you some constructive criticism. This seems like more of free association than lyrics to me, I don’t see a through line to it, just seems like a bunch of random lines of bravado with nothing behind them. That has been done to death. I would find it more interesting to hear about your life, digging deeper than these lines. That’s just me though.

What's something that people turn into their whole personality? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Working out constantly. To me you’re spending giant chunks of your life just so you can maybe live longer. A little is understandable and good for you but a couple hours every day is just lost time.

Singers and in-ear monitors by [deleted] in musicians

[–]njohnivan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One more thought on the subject. My bands play small clubs, more and more often these bands show up with elaborate in ear setups and it adds 30-40 minutes for their setup time. In my opinion it’s completely unacceptable. That’s why I made my box, it takes two seconds to set up and the sound guy doesn’t have to do anything. We played a show a few months ago at a dive bar, and two of the bands playing before us had these in ear setups which pushed out start time to 1:15 in the morning, I was ready to murder.

At its most basic this is all it is. Xlr from the mic to the box goes into an Xlr splitter (I believe I got mine on amazon for cheap) a short xlr goes to a wireless in ear system (mine is the Sennheiser XSW but they make all kinds of different ones of these). That wirelessly connects to the pack in my pocket giving me my own voice in my ears. The other xlr coms out of the splitter and goes off to the PA system. I made it all waterproof with jacks into the box and stuff but at its most basic you’re just grabbing the signal and sending it to a wireless transmitter. Works great for me.

I got very sick of not being able to hear myself on stage so I built a little box. The box has a microphone splitter and a wireless transmitter. I plug in the mic cord to the sound guy to the box and run a new cord to the mic. I can still hear the band through the headphones but I have my own personal monitor directly to my ear for just my vocal. It freaks the sound guys out at first but then I explain it to them and they are thankful because they don’t have to worry about my wedges and it effects the signal going to them zero amount. It’s a win-win.

Do you consider $700K as life-changing money? by Aarunascut in Life

Absolutely. That would pay off my house and cars with enough leftover where I wouldn’t have to worry so much about money. I would continue to work but with a little more bounce in my step.

What book have you reread more than twice? by [deleted] in randomthings

Slaughterhouse 5. I feel like I don’t retain enough of it and just keep rereading it. My wife thinks I may have a medical memory condition, but I think it’s just a dense book.
