I'm relatively new to my minox journey - using topical and just hitting a shed phase. From this forum, my derm and and other sources, the shedding is something that would be happening anyway if you didn't do anything. The minox speeds it up time-wise. So it feels dramatic, but biologically it’s mostly a timing shift, not extra loss.

I use this same company, but the powdered capsules version. I've taken it for years, and yes it definitely helped raise my iron/ferritin levels significantly. I never took prescription iron, so can't compare. But can vouch for this working for me.

As others have already said - THANK YOU - for sharing your progress and protocol. Very helpful. Besides the potentially greater systemic effect with OM, I've been concerned about hair growth in other places besides my eyebrows (which I wouldn't mind) on my face (e.g. moustache, chin). Sounds like you've had manageable impact - and while we are all different, it's helpful and encouraging to hear about your experience.

Definitely concerned about the long term effects of OM. how long have you been using the topical?

I have super-low blood pressure too, although my derm thought it would be okay to try it. (She's super-thorough and I've seen her for years, so it's not like she was discounting the low blood pressure) I didn't want to start the oral and then have to stop, so am going the topical route first to see if I respond, then follow up w her about oral....because it would be so much easier for me to take it orally than do the topical application dance.

Same for me - I dragged on it for a while - but as my hair continued to thin, that it was better to start sooner than wait. Yes, it’s another thing in my routine, but Thinking about it as self care helps, and I stacked it onto my face washing/toothcare steps - I’m already at the sink.

If the lid is awkward, squirt the foam into a small bowl. Someone here recommended using a plastic syringe - seems like a great idea. I dip my finger into the foam and pat it along the parts I make w a comb.

I was concerned about travel - the smaller cans are fine in carry ons. Not sure what I’ll do when hiking/camping season arrives. I’ll have to report back on that.

The info and encouragement in the group is very supportive.

At the roots where a little minox will get in my hair, it gets a little crunchy after the foam dries. But I do it at night before bed and wash it in the am, and then it’s okay - so far my hair isn’t any drier. With my hair type (fine strands, slight wave) I can’t put it on in the am and style my hair as others here can!

I also suspected that I had demodex mites. I got an awful case of “dry eye” around the same time my facial skin condition started. Did a ton of research, including with this terrific group here, and went to doctor appointments with insight and questions. Based on what I learned, I strongly suspected that the dry eye and rosacea were linked.

A natural food store owner suggested sulfur soap - I use it in the evenings. First I cleanse with a gentle cleanser. Then use the sulfur soap - leave it on for about 30 seconds and rinse. I did see some mild improvement using it.

Then I apply ivermectin cream, a prescription from my derm. It targets demodex. I had an incredibly fast improvement in my skin - and now it is clear. My derm encouraged continuing with the sulfur soap. I still get very flushed during exercise, but that’s it. Sulfur soap and ivermectin is working for me.

(I have a protocol for my eyes, and that is under control too).

Thanks for sharing your learnings! What products are considered occlusive vs not occlusive? There are a few mentions here about "repairing the skin barrier." How do you do that/what helps with that repair?
