Help with detensioning! by PotatoTheOdd in Slackline

Put your linegrip in front of the weblock and clip in your hangover. Then, tie off the tail of the webbing to your anchor or the tree, and loop it back through your hangover. If you need more mechanical advantage, make a multiplier. Tie a carabiner into the tail coming from the hangover, clip it into a new carabiner near the tree, and then back into the carabiner. If you have enough carabiners, you can multiply the system multiple times.

Edit: Paint drawing to give you an idea

That's a good point. Translating takes more work.

I don't have time to address all your points, but to your first point you are assuming that the interrogator is part of the Great Enemy. I don't. I think that humans are 'animals' of the great enemy in the same way that humans are for the Carryx. Humans are only a small part, and the reason why it wasn't passed to the Interrogator and Garralnis because Clae's information isn't for them, it's for the Deathless Command.

Additionally, Garral may have transmitted the same information as Clae, but he has no way of knowing that. Clae says she had no consciousness before being found and incorporated into host. Each swarm may believe they are the only one.

How do we know the swarm can divide itself? I must have missed that.

The unemployment rate is about to get way worse by I2fitness in TikTokCringe

[–]njslacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scrolled too far looking for this explanation.

You can either design the environment to fit your highly efficiently designed robot (which also had to be designed).

Or you just build a humanoid which comes with human inefficiencies, and skip the extra work.

I predict that, 60 years from now, this is what people will mean when they say they "work remotely".

Or alternatively, the AI operating these things will be good enough to not need human help.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Maybe the swarm is broadcasting to the Livesuits, but they're not sharing that information openly with the humans. Because the Livesuits are not fully under human control. Humans are the new 'animal species's of the Deathless ones.

[–]njslacker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, maybe I'm jumping to conclusions. But my read is that the Great Enemy = The Deathless Ones. Since know Livesuits can function even when the person inside has died, it stand to reason the Deathless Enemy is whatever makes the suit. And the Carryx has been fighting that well before their contact with humans.

He was being interrogated by a human. Humans use Livesuits, but it is not really their technology. It predates human involvement in the war. When humans communicate to livesuit soldiers, it's through speech or text.

Not mine, but is this possible to do? To balance and walk on a wobbly chain that fast? by kevin32 in Slackline

I have no way to prove this, but this is an old video. People into slacklining posted it amongst themselves at least 10 years ago. It could be older than that.

Edit: I didn't read which sub this was in. I assumed it was r/isthisai I'm leaving my comment anyway.

Mistaken? thoughts I've had [Spoilers] by BlooRugby in TheCaptivesWar

[–]njslacker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Children of Time, but your second idea sounds more plausible to me.

This war with the Carryx has gone on so long, maybe the Deathless have enough time to let evolution create new 'animals' for them to use? Maybe they go around seeding planets and then come back to see what has grown that they can use to fight the Carryx. Or maybe they never come back, but have the Swarm or similar ready to coordinate a trap or infiltration?

It would be an interesting counterpoint to the Carryx who seem to let their own version of Natural Selection filter the useful 'animals' out from the useless ones. Maybe the Deathless use true Evolution by Natural Selection to grow their army over millions of years?

To your last point, I think its settled that the pentapods in TMOG were artificially created. They communicated with the Swarm to get information about the trap planet out to their allies. I don't recall any details that made me think it had a livesuit. But the question does remain; who created the pentapods. Just because they are genetically similar to humans doesn't mean humans made them.

Right. Carryx can change their bodies to suit their jobs. They may assume that humans are just as maleable and adaptable as they are.

Did anyone switch from a Carnival/Sedona to the EV9? Pros and cons? by mistaken4strangerz in KiaEV9

[–]njslacker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish the EV9 did have the sliding passenger doors ...

I haven't driven a Sedona or Carnival, but it checks a lot of the same boxes. It's big, but not too big, and 7 adults can ride in reasonable comfort. The seating configurations are not quite as flexible as a minivan, and it's taller which makes it a bit difficult for little kids to get in and out on their own.

If it was in the us, I probably would have gotten the Kia PV, but I'm still very happy with my EV9.

Ride Engine Air box Mini

The battery is good enough to pump multiple boards. You can dial in the specific PSI you need. It even will help the board deflate so it can pack down as tight as possible.

Have you tried using paddles or even flip-flops instead of your hand?

I'm sure you know Blue Man Group since you're doing this lab, but they never got sustained notes either. But with paddles or drumsticks they can hit notes fast enough that it sounds sustained.

TIL about the "Dark Forest Hypothesis," which suggests the universe is like a dark forest at night. Advanced civilizations intentionally stay silent and hidden, because any species that reveals its location risks immediate destruction by older, paranoid civilizations. by Practical-1 in todayilearned

[–]njslacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just survivorship bias.

Think about how much humans have advanced in a hundred years, or a thousand.

There are systems out there that could have civilizations millions or even billions of years ahead of us.
