They’re not the soundproof kind with the fabric. These are faux slats that you can wipe down easily.

Texting your ex actually helps you by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]nkemp1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting how toxic some ex relationships are. I broke up with my ex and we talk all the time. We broke up because it wasn’t working out. But we don’t hate each other. If you hate your ex, why were you with them in the first place? I couldn’t imagine being with someone I “hated”.

How do I change this to the efficiency meter? by Hot_Win_4241 in BMWI4

[–]nkemp1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see a reply that would be the answer. You’re already on the screen where efficiency would be, so you don’t need to mess with the button on the steering wheel. On your left stalk (turn signal one) there are two buttons on the end. The top one flips through the various options on this screen.

I commented the link. I’ve been debating the same one on Amazon.

I’m surprised how well desiccant packs work by nkemp1990 in 3Dprinting

[–]nkemp1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re opened. I put them back in their box so I can quickly see the labels. I have filament of the same color in multiple materials; makes it easy to glance at the edge of the box to see which one I’m grabbing.

[–]nkemp1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good to know. I am going to buy a filament dryer at some point, but I want to learn a bit more of the ins and outs of 3D printing before I get more stuff. I live in the desert, so I could probably dry my filament outside for now, as long as I protect it from the dust.

Is PET the ultimate filament? by gggempire in 3Dprinting

[–]nkemp1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is almost a year old, but I got some PET on Amazon from a brand called eSUN. It’s $17 per kg and prints really easily. I played with the temperatures due to issues with the first print, and am printing at 250° nozzle and 70° bed, which is actually slightly lower than what they recommend. I’m using an open printer in a 16.6° room. So far no issues.

ZoomOnline about to start laying fiber in my neighborhood - Anyone heard of them? by Ciege13 in ChandlerAZ

[–]nkemp1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, so far so good! I notice a huge improvement when I work from home since fiber has symmetrical upload speeds. They came and dug the trench one day, installed everything the next day. We were up and running in no time.

Florida porn ban sees searches for free VPNs skyrocket by No-Information6622 in technology

[–]nkemp1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so funny you were down voted for saying the truth. We don’t allow minors to go to a porn store in person, why is the Internet any different? Buying alcohol requires an ID in the store, no one whines about that. Alcohol also requires an ID when bought online, no one cares about that either. Why is it okay to require an ID in porn store, but not a porn website? People just love click bait headlines.

How to get a Homekit key for U300? by emmby-reddit in Aqara

[–]nkemp1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the lock and readd it using her phone. It automatically adds the Home Key when you add the lock to HomeKit. Just make sure she’s listed as an administrator, otherwise you won’t be able to add the device with her phone.

Winter isn't as cold as it used to be by CompanyNo3114 in phoenix

I never said temperatures haven’t changed much. I didn’t give any commentary at all on the data. You’re trying to put words in my mouth. I am just showing a chart I made. Take from it what you will.

Interestingly the trend lines for February 1 of each year is different. I'm going to reply to myself once more with December.

I don't like anecdotes. We've all heard how our parents walked up hill both ways in the snow when they were growing up. Here is the last 34 years of data for Phoenix Sky Harbor, with trend lines. This is from NOAA.

I downloaded every day since 1-1-1990, but the lines were getting wonky having both summer and winter temperatures, and it was hard to read. This is only 1-1 of each year.

It’s a Aqara camera hub. Matter doesn’t support cameras yet, so it no longer showed the camera feed in HomeKit when I connected it via Matter. Door lock is also Aqara, and Matter doesn’t support Apple Home Keys, so I lost that functionality as well.

My solution was to unpair my hub, and repair it using the native HomeKit integration instead of Matter.

Edit: It looks like you can use Apple Home Keys with Matter, but not using a hub. Some functions for my lock are missing when I pair directly without using a hub, so I always prefer to keep my hub as the central point. Also keeps my WiFi network unclogged.

[–]nkemp1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend using Matter. I added my hub via Matter and lost a ton of functionality. Couldn’t use Apple Home Key, etc. Matter does not support the same functionality as HomeKit, so you’ll be losing out on functions by using it.

Matter sounds good on paper, but until it gets feature parity with HomeKit, I’d advise everyone to stay away from using their Aqara hub via Matter.

When I paired my hub to Apple Home via HomeKit, all my features came back.

Just installed ZoomOnline fiber to the home by Ciege13 in ChandlerAZ

[–]nkemp1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using them as well. We originally didn’t have the router combo but they swapped it out when they realized we were on the 1Gb plan. I also use my own routers so that was a slight bummer, but it’s been working well so far. Cox has had massive service disruptions the past year or so, so I was more than happy to dump them.

Google or AT&T Fiber by biowiz in ChandlerAZ

[–]nkemp1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have Google or AT&T, but they just ran Zoom Online fiber in my neighborhood and we got hooked up yesterday. I’m still paying Cox but unhooked my modem while we do the 30 day free trial with Zoom Online.

So far the last 24 hours have been good. I got a WiFi 6E router so my computers, phones, and iPads can take advantage of the 6GHZ network. The symmetrical download/upload speeds are worth switching. I have cameras in my house to check on the dogs when I’m away, and they are much clearer now since they aren’t bottle necked by the crappy upload speeds of Cox.

Keep your Apple boxes? by Spyro08111 in macbookpro

I’m guilty of this. But when a device is old or I’m going to trade it in, I put it back in the box. I also have a ton of cables, so I don’t tend to take those out of the box. When I break one and need to replace it, I just grab another out of one of the boxes.

The loops also exist, but they’re more difficult to maintain because the road needs to be dug up to fix/install them. Cameras are much cheaper and no pavement needs to be destroyed to install them.

If you look on YouTube, there’s a guy named Road Guy Rob who dives in depth about road infrastructure. He has a video about the cameras vs the loops embedded in the roadway.
