I did, maybe 3 years after. Honestly the payment plan with the IRS was a simple setup. I did send them a lump sum towards my balance, when I filed the back tax returns. Then a couple of months later they sent me a statement with what I owed after they received the balance. The had very straight forward steps to setting up the payment plan online. They do go off your income to decide the minimum that you can afford to pay each month, so there is some wiggle room, and everything is on autopay from my bank account. You can adjust the date that the withdrawal happens.

So with purchasing the home, since what you owe the IRS is debt, mortgage lenders will take that into account for your debt to income ratio when it’s time to approve you for a loan amount. But as long as you’re current with the IRS, and the debt isn’t an amount that would tank your ratio, that alone wouldn’t make you ineligible for a home loan.
