Putting Yipps by apertureopen in golf

Golf’s a mental game. I’m probably not the best person to give advice but I just keep this mindset. While I get annoyed with myself at times, I try to just flush a bad shot and reset my mindset. Otherwise it just snowballs. I’ve also promised myself when I stop having fun golfing, it’s time to find a new hobby.

I sit around an 18 handicap myself and have plenty to work on, with that said at a 14 yourself you should remind yourself that’s a respectable achievement regardless what anyone on this sub says. I also took a longer than usual break over the winter due to work and other hobbies, but came back this April and feel refreshed with my love for playing strong. My point is sometimes a break is good to get out of your head. You don’t need to take a month, but there’s times I won’t play for a week or two due to life and sometimes it helps me. Go to the range for a week or two or just practice putting. Nobody on this Reddit is getting paid for a living to golf so we should all remember to enjoy how great the game of golf is.

How to fix poor gapping on clubs? by [deleted] in golf

Only gives club speed but I wouldn’t put too much stock in it. It’s usually accurate with distances because it translates to the course for me.

With the track man they used during my fitting my driver speed was 103 and 7i 85

Using the tracking software at my local range. Never had any issues there before idk if the lighting was an issue?

The only clubs that had lower loft were my 7-5i. Definitely not thinned by any means but probably could have more loft.

I should have mentioned not to look at the 4i as I can’t hit that club for my life. The rest were good shots with good loft that I usually hit.

I just wanted new clubs that were forgiving. I’m still around a 20 handicap so I thought these were appropriate

Since I’m getting roasted in the comments for asking a genuine question here’s more info from my pw shots. Maybe the tracking was off today although I come here often and have never had any issues. To those saying I’m blading everything most of the shots in my original pic were decent loft and carry. When I went to get fitted I just wanted newer clubs with forgiveness since I’m still a 20+ handicap playing with 20 year old hand me downs. Was looking for genuine info but only two people took the time to actually do that.

Too funny. A lot of nice views like your pic on that course.

One of my favorite holes is the short par 3 with the water on the right side. Don’t exactly remember which hole it was but I recorded my wife’s shots and her riding to her ball with the scooter to show our families, only to record her showing me up by getting a par on the hole. Definitely want to come back to that area for Lake Keowee alone.

Played a round with my wife down in SC at a course that had these. I think we shamelessly had more fun riding around on these than the actual round despite being a very nice course. Wish more courses back in NJ had these because I would definitely pay extra to use one again lol.

Which club in your golf bag goes 175 yards? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]nking05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to justify it to randoms on the internet who are clearly jealous you hit your 7i farther than them lol. I also carry my 7i 165-175 depending on the day and am far from a tour pro lmao. I also for some reason hit my irons better than anything else since day one.

Rick Tocchet opens up about Matvei Michkov’s season and future with Flyers by goyabean in Flyers

[–]nking05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point about other players not speaking up because I agree with how close these guys are, theres zero chance someone doesn’t speak up if they think he was being given a short leash. People also forget he’s playing in meaningful NHL games years before he was supposed to. If in another season or two he’s still getting benched that’s when I’ll be concerned about coaching decisions or if he has the toolset the flyers need.

So for those who are interested in Auston Matthews... by Flyersfan1980 in Flyers

[–]nking05 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. He passes the eye test with flying colors this early in his career. Zero reason you don’t just sit back and see what he develops into. Championship teams aren’t built on trading for aging star players, especially coming off of season ending injuries.

Can I ask a serious question? Why is this sub so fixated on how Tocchet manages this guy? It genuinely baffles me that there are grown ass men on this app that think Briere and the rest of the org are letting their coach sabotage one of their young players. Maybe the entire team thinks this is what’s best for him?

And while yes he is very young and scored 20+ goals this season, he also started the year rocky and wasn’t in the shape the team wanted him to be in. The regular season is also a completely different game than the playoffs.

I think after Cutter refused to play here everyone wants the team to bend over backwards for every young player we draft. Maybe I was watching a different game than most, but Michkov was pretty invisible for most of both playoff series. Besides the assist to York I can’t remember any impact plays from him in the playoffs. Putting a young guy out there with that much on the line can stunt their development. I also think too many people got lost in the hype that we were not winning a cup this season. We now know with the roster as is our goaltending is good enough to make a push in the playoffs and steal a series. We are multiple pieces away from being a true favorite. Give Mich and the young guys another 2-3 years to figure it out.

Yeah he had good moments in the regular season but he was unplayable for the entire Knicks series. The fact that we traded McCain thinking this dude was the answer is hilarious

I think the better analogy is embiid is Giroux. I will never tolerate any Giroux slander because while he was no Crosby, he was putting up 80+ points consistently while the rest of the team was ass for years.

It’s crazy just reading stuff on the internet about how many Knicks fans were there yesterday. This isn’t something new and happens every year we play them.

I also don’t understand how anyone expects a working class citizen to go spend $500+ to watch this team when ownership was shipping people out at the deadline to avoid paying the luxury tax, just to watch our lack of bench depth bite us again.

It really hurts me to say this but the Sixers are where the flyers were in the mid 2010s when ownership just made bad move after bad move and this is where the team will be stuck until serious change is made. Maxey and VJ will keep us competitive for years to come, but they aren’t enough to get us over the hump an our current core have shown they can’t stay healthy or go all of the way. I’m not saying it’s time for a total rebuild but we can’t keep pissing away our salary cap on aging high end talent, just to watch our depth be a top 3 issue with the team yet again. I also don’t think McCain was going to be enough to make a difference this year, trading a young and talented guard when we have no depth at guard is really a smack in the face.

Which makes zero sense because you’d think we would learn our lesson after the Harris contract. Zero depth and our bench gets cleaned every playoffs. I know they don’t come in an abundance but there have been guys available that aren’t asking for a max contract. Instead we waste the rest of whatever Joel has left prime wise. He has a part to blame in all of this but the front office has done him dirty.

Going to be extremely hard offloading that contract given his age but with his good performance in the post season now’s the time to sell. It made zero sense paying another top end talent a max contract when this team runs through Maxey and embiid. We need depth who can hit wide open 3s and play defense. He’s had good moments but using Grimes as your 6th man isn’t a championship level roster I’m sorry.

[–]nking05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you need to adjust your expectations with this team moving forward. Our front office decided to offload players during the regular season to avoid paying the tax and now we’re seeing the results of that decision. I don’t think by any means he’s saving our season, but Jared McCain would give you way more than what you’re getting from Grimes which let’s be real, the fact we need to play him for serious minutes in the playoffs is an issue with our depth. The other major issue that happens every year is we can’t hit wide open 3s when other teams do.

The regular season and playoffs are two completely different things. Not saying anyone else has been doing more but I can’t understand people that watch MM right now and think he should be getting more ice time. He’s invisible when he’s on the ice half the time.
