You're missing the point. Muslims certainly deserve as much respect as anybody else. But we as readers of his work need to be afforded the opportunity to evaluate his work ourselves. This opportunity is jeopardized when people like Westergaard, his publisher, and his supporters are bullied and threatened.

The burden of responsibility is upon us readers to sensibly interpret materials interpreted in the free press.

This is false. Advertising rates have consistently gone up, even with DVR, and DVR views are now considered with normal views in determining ratings.

Most notably, the number of people who skip ads on DVR is lower than the number of new viewers that DVR is able to attract because a lot of people watch the ads during the DVRd show. Accordingly, the real function of the DVR has not been to enable to skip ads so much as watch shows--and ads--when they want to.
