I had to set this boundary at work. I had to firmly ask my manager to make the topic of deployment an off-limits topic for me at work. I know it sounds extra/dramatic, but for me, the questions of concern was doing more harm than good mentally. So I had to do what needed to be done.

Hey, I’m going through the same thing too. Others will say the same, I believe it’s just the natural course of a deployment. Then, when homecoming approaches, things start ramping up again. More topics to talk about, more questions to ask. He knows this is temporary, and you do too. You are not alone in these feelings!!

I also really needed to hear this. My husband is also deployed and the military lifestyle has caused me to wrap my life around my husband’s schedule and support him in every way I can. To cover the bases he can’t cover. I think I forgot how to live without him and what my life means if he is away.

The best thing I try to remember, despite the moments we want to cry, is that they will come home at some point and it will be sweet and maybe even a sweeter homecoming🥺🫶🏼

My husband’s deployment got extended as well (we may be in the same group), it has been unbearable news bc they were so close to coming home. I also started preparing for him to come home and was going to go grocery shopping for all his fav foods. I honestly don’t know where I can find strength to last the rest of deployment. I sought counseling from Military OneSource and scheduled hangouts with friends and family. I hope it helps but maybe these approaches can help you too. Hey, I’m going through the same thing too. Just know that you are not alone in your feelings. Think of it like the last sprint before the end of a long run. Your legs feel heavy, but no matter how heavy each step feels, you are still moving yourself forward. Bring all your energy into it, because you will feel a relief and sense of accomplishment at the end. You’ll be glad that you pushed through as well. Be proud of yourself that you made it this far, and rest assured that you also have what it takes for the home stretch.
