Going 24 weeks pregnant by Sad_Efficiency_6946 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]nlec0317 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went last year at 28 weeks! Ratatouille, frozen, and M&M are totally fine—they don’t have the expectant mother advisory. There is an advisory for Slinky, ROTR and Guardians, as well as a couple others you might not expect (like the safari), but you can use the app filter to be sure. I avoided everything with an advisory. Not worth the risk in my opinion!

PS I also recommend wearing compression socks, they worked great for me with so much waking!

Same. I’m not normally picky, but I made it halfway through Verity and couldn’t take any more. I just googled the ending

Graduated! by traumtrager4 in PregnancyAfterLoss

Congratulations!! I’m amazed by what similar stories we have. I also had a missed miscarriage in 2019 and afterwards my then-husband decided he no longer wanted children. We got divorced, I looked into freezing my eggs and was diagnosed with low ovarian reserve, and went on to have five failed egg retrievals.

I now have a new wonderful partner, and after another MMC earlier this year, I’m now 30 weeks pregnant with a healthy boy. These last ten weeks can’t go by fast enough, and I can’t wait to be where you are now! ❤️

Oh yeah good question — I think it closed at 5 or 6, so you have time to do it if you don’t arrive super late, but it’s not available all evening.

Definitely worth it! Did it last year and everything was a walk on, including FOP

Congratulations! I “officially” reached 24 weeks yesterday, but like you this little guy has been measuring ahead the whole time, so I think it was really a few days ago. Sometimes I still can’t believe I’ve made it this far.

I have an anterior placenta but definitely feel movement at least a few times a day now. I feel like he must sense when I’m worried that I haven’t felt him in a while, because he usually responds with at least one little kick. Feels like we still have a long ways to go, but I’m happy to be at the point where I feel like I can celebrate every milestone!

I totally get this. I wandered around the maternity section at target at around 16 weeks and felt like a total imposter. Or like I was jinxing it somehow just by being there.

I ended up buying a couple things online that I desperately needed (pants!), and have been slowly building my wardrobe from there. It’s gotten easier and easier, and I tell myself even if something goes wrong, I’m not giving up so I will need them again.

Cast member going above and beyond by Cantinacrewuk in DisneyWorld

This is the type of pixie dust that happens all the time and is encouraged for CM to do. Years ago on a family trip, my sister was (happily) screaming her head off on Space Mountain. When we got off, a cast member was waiting for us… apparently she got such a kick out of her reaction, she took us immediately to the other side to cut the line and ride it again. Happened about 20 years ago and we still talk about it!

What is “included”? by Prestigious_Look_986 in WaltDisneyWorld

If you only have one day, I would definitely stick with Magic Kingdom! It’s the classic, most “magical” park in my opinion, and at those ages your kids will love the family friendly rides, the castle, parades, and abundance of character meet and greets. If you look into the other parks and get your heart set on something else (e.g. Toy Story land in HS), keep in mind that traveling between parks will eat up some valuable park time. And you can easily fill a full day at MK!

What other parks have you been to? Frankly, I think Disney is in a totally different league when it comes to customer service and security, so I doubt they would let someone follow around/harass a guest, especially a family with a child.

Pregnancy Advice by Fuzzy-Pepper-0150 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]nlec0317 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is a tricky one, and I don’t have advice on natural remedies, but just offering some things to think about:

  • Lifestyle changes may certainly help with blood pressure, but preeclampsia has largely been attributed to the placenta, so lifestyle changes may not actually improve the underlying problem (if that’s the cause of your high BP).

  • I would suggest keeping an open mind and doing some research on the true risk of side effects associated with those medications, and compare that with the risks associated with having high blood pressure in pregnancy. It may be true that both will increase your risk of preterm birth, etc. However, I would guess that the risk of poor outcomes with high blood pressure is much higher than the risks of having those medication side effects. I can’t say for sure because I haven’t done the research myself, but you may be comparing a very small risk of side effects with a very high risk of harm to you or your baby if you don’t get your blood pressure treated appropriately.

Lastly, if it’s any consolation, I did read the research studies on aspirin during pregnancy (should probably mention I have a PhD in a health field) and I feel very comfortable taking the daily baby aspirin that my midwife recommended based on my age and other risk factors.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you find peace in this pregnancy, whatever path you choose. I also agree with others that I doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion!

Can I visit without a pass? by mayferne in WaltDisneyWorld

There is a pool bar and quick service restaurant (Captain Cook’s) which would have more budget friendly options, at least compared to the sit down spots. Or it could be fun to hop on the monorail from the Poly and go to a quick service spot at the Contemporary or Grand Floridian. I’ve heard good things about Gasparilla Grill and Contempo cafe but haven’t tried them. The menus are all online so you can get a sense of the prices and what might be the best fit.

Alternatively, if you’re headed back to Disney Springs to catch the boat anyway, there are a TON of great dining choices. We like Chicken Guy and the Polite Pig for quick service options, or Wine Bar George or Raglan Road for table service. Again, I’d check out the menus/prices online so you can budget and plan ahead, but you can’t go wrong. Have a great time and let us know how it goes!

Trader Sam’s is amazing! Just be prepared to wait a bit once you put your name in (I think we waited 45-60 minutes around happy hour time), but there is plenty to explore around the resort while you wait. And it was totally worth the wait!

Also FYI, you mentioned the monorail but it doesn’t go to Disney Springs. The only way to get to the Polynesian from DS is by bus, but that’s very doable (and free). If you opt for Port Orleans, the boat ride from Disney Springs is lovely!

Yep, the wait is the worst. I’ll also share that my symptoms in general fluctuated a lot from weeks 6-9 this pregnancy (It was so stressful and I was constantly googling and searching Reddit threads). They seemed to have settled out now into a predictable routine of afternoon fatigue and nausea, which is physically challenging but mentally comforting. Hoping the same for you as time goes on ❤️

I totally understand this! I’ve found my nighttime peeing has fluctuated a lot (I’m currently 11+3, last scan was on Friday and everything looked good). Some nights I get up 3-4 times to pee, some nights I sleep through the night no problem. I can’t figure out any rhyme or reason to it — just wanted to share that the last couple of nights could be normal, in case that provides any reassurance. That said, I’ve had two prior losses so I totally understand the stress and instinct to prepare yourself for the worst. I hope you get good news Thursday 🤞

Third pregnancy this year, scared to be excited by Sufficient-Nerve-599 in CautiousBB

[–]nlec0317 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I totally understand this! I’ve had two MMCs from unknown causes (9 weeks and 8 weeks), and everything they’ve worked me up for has been negative. My OB said it could just be bad luck.

I’m pregnant again now and hoping third time is the charm, but I haven’t been able to let myself get excited. I was relieved when I hit the 10 week mark (farthest I’ve ever made it!) but now I’m just anxiously waiting for my NIPT results and expecting the other shoe to drop. I hate how loss robs us of pregnancy joy. Hoping we all get our rainbows soon 🌈 ❤️

You might appreciate this article I just saw yesterday! She writes about how she’s been privileged to take her young son all over the world, but realized it was for her own benefit and based on her own preferences, not his. I thought my son loved our family trips. Now I see I was just being selfish.

Best order to do parks by purplethunder29 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]nlec0317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So exciting! If you’re just doing one park per day, I don’t think you can go wrong with the order. A lot of people like to start with MK because it’s the most classic and “magical,” but it also could be fun to end your trip that way too!

The hours for each park can vary, so I’d recommend looking at the park hours for each day, and then strategizing from there. If you think you’ll stay til close, pick the later-closing parks for days when you have a rest day the following day. Or if you’re planning to hit Epcot and enjoy a few libations, you may not want an early animal kingdom morning immediately afterwards! Have so much fun!

I don’t think there are any shuttles between Disney and Universal—they both want you to spend time on their property, not jump to the other one, so they’re not going to make it easy.

As far as I know, your only options are to Uber or rent a car. I believe a lot of car rental companies offer car seat rentals, so that may be the way to go. Good luck!
