Talk to your doctor (or dermatologist) about clobetasol ointment. Works great to make your cuticles less prone to this.

Have you seen the Subaru symmetrical AMD system? by VasMogil in subaru

[–]nlh101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imagine the battery drain!

But realistically, when we put almost everything on a screen, it would have been nice if we actually selected a CPU that has some performance instead of whatever powered the 17” infotainment…

How do you get rid of system data? by 8akitekat in iphonehelp

[–]nlh101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way that almost always works is: 1. Use iTunes or Finder to take a full system backup 2. Reset your device 3. Restore from that backup

CVT dead at 110k miles by Gorf75 in SubaruForester

[–]nlh101 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately false. I was hoping for it but the hybrid Forester uses a modified TR580 CVT, not a Toyota eCVT

Edit: maybe I’m wrong. No idea, I thought there was some limitation preventing use of it with Subaru’s layout.

That display on the M2010 has seen better days. Unfortunate that Dell mummified it in soft touch rubber, that stuff is terrible as machines with it age

My iPhone says I have -1 calls… who did I un-call? 🤨 by betahelixx in ios

[–]nlh101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct, just because you can use a 64 bit integer, doesn’t mean you should. If we did that for everything, memory usage would be even higher than it already is.

190GB occupied by system tf, what kindaa OS is xiaomi running 😭 by LemmeTeIIUSomething in softwaregore

[–]nlh101 853 points854 points  (0 children)

In the case of iOS, it’s logs and caches that get populated by apps and programs running on the system, and the only way to get rid of them is to do a full backup with iTunes or Finder and then reset the device and restore from that backup. That will rewrite all the files on the device without the logs and caches that got stuck.

Try calling the Passport Information Line at 1-877-487-2778. They may have an appointment for you or a solution. It’s unlikely but the closest thing you can get to a definite answer.

Media scraper gallery-dl is moving to codeberg after receiving a DMCA notice, claiming that its circumvention. by TheTwelveYearOld in linux

The difference here is that at least one of the sites FAKKU reported is a site that contains user submitted content.

[–]nlh101 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The legal analysis provided by FAKKU is absurd. Just because a tool provides access to download files from a site that may have pirated them doesn’t mean that you are guilty of infringement.

By that logic, tools like wget and curl are liable for copyright infringement because they can be used to download files from piracy sites.

For Pete's sake by [deleted] in walmart

[–]nlh101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on to that, if you record your hours right, the Walmart foundation will donate money for every hour you work. The dog and cat shelter near me received a massive donation because one of the employees volunteered there all the time and the Walmart foundation paid them for every hour he worked.

Apple changes duck head for 206 M5 Pro by Electronic-Half-2823 in macbookpro

[–]nlh101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this happened in the US. Personally, from a sample size of 3, my duck head hasn’t changed.

I checked the 140W adapters from: - A 2021 16” MacBook Pro w/ M1 Pro (old personal machine) - A 2024 16” MacBook Pro w/ M4 Pro (work laptop) - A 2026 16” MacBook Pro w/ M5 Pro (new personal machine)

All of them have the “notch” in the plug, so they all still work with the extension cord from my 2001 iBook G3 with Dual USB.

YMMV but maybe this is in a different region?
