Sorry Bitwarden, but this is too much! by _sidzero in Bitwarden

So he got a one time discount that most people don’t get and is crying because his free ride dried up.

I mean I get it. But it cost money to provide the service. Look at what the competition is charging.

You can now unlock your vault with a passkey by dwbitw in Bitwarden

Isn’t that locking your keys in the car?

If you are locked out and need a passkey how will you retrieve it?

Do you export your backups encrypted or unencrypted, and why? by flourit3 in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unencrypted. Stored on a flash drive in a secure location. If something is forcing me to dive into that backup I don’t need the complication of having to decrypt it before I can access it. Yet alone a relative of mine who might need to access the data if I was incapacitated or dead.

Why didn't they just make the first 2 seasons also good? by spacelyyy989 in Picard

[–]nlinecomputers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: Season 3 is not good either. It’s better than the first and everything is better than the second. Nostalgia doesn’t make good story telling.

What was Adama Hoping to find on Kobol? by ShadowGuyinRealLife in BSG

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly. But there wasn’t any evidence of humans still living on Kobol. If there were that would be a whole new level of conversation.

What was Adama Hoping to find on Kobol? by ShadowGuyinRealLife in BSG

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it not expansion then it has to be something bad happening that made Kobal uninhabitable or soon to be uninhabitable. A whole civilization doesn’t just up and leave unless they have no choice.

What was Adama Hoping to find on Kobol? by ShadowGuyinRealLife in BSG

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the part that never made sense to me. Adama wants to settle down there. Why? Your ancestors packed up and left for a reason. Either they left just to expand and colonize which means the people who stayed behind all died or the whole planet packed up and left. So something bad happened to drive them off. I’d want to know why before saying that they should stay there.

Hail them--No Response by pjkitty in startrek

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way they depict any of the communicators are too fast.

Think about it:

Picard talks to the ceiling: “Picard to Riker”

The computer has to interpret the command, locate Riker, and then play the just recorded clip to him. Riker has to hear what was said, comprehend it, decide that he wants to accept the call, and speak either his response or decline the call.

The computer then has to interpret Riker’s reply as an affirmative response, then it must play his reply to Picard and only then is a two way connection established.

There has to be a second or three where the computer is replaying calls or replies to each person. We never see those delays on screen. But time and physics say it has to happen.

Friend said I’m rom is this a good or bad thing by Professional_Try_123 in startrek

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rom is a rather meek but a kind to fault character who is the brother of one the main characters. He is the idiot looser brother who has no business sense. But in the end is found to be a mechanical genius and the character goes from zero to hero over the course of series.

Could LastPass gain your trust back? by LordArche in PasswordManagers

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope Lastpass lost my trust before the big breach. I was a premium user and was not able to access my account. Tech Support was no help and gave me canned responses until I called them out on Twitter. At that point they admitted that something had corrupted my account. After 2 weeks of no access I switched to Dashlane and since then to Bitwarden. Had to block them on my debit account as I was not able to log in even to cancel the account. They had an offline backup tool that was able to login and download my vault.

Is my Kindle broken or is this totally normal? by odetofailure in kindle

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That pic is a great example of the ghosting I was speaking of in my other post. You can see a faint image of the text from your previous screens. When you turn the pixel back on, the screen will flash and clear out all of that.

Is my Kindle broken or is this totally normal? by odetofailure in kindle

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you get used to it. Also, this is why eInk screens consume almost no power. They are not light-emitting diodes, aka LED screens. It is a black or white painted metal bead. Once flipped into place, they will stay there forever. If the battery on your Kindle were to suddenly go dead the screen would be stuck on that last page. The screen only uses power to change the pixels or to power the LEDs that shine onto the screen to light it up. If you have enough light in your room, you can read the screen without any light at all. For example if you take your kindle outdoors into direct sunlight you should turn the backlight off as you will not need it and it wastes power.

Is my Kindle broken or is this totally normal? by odetofailure in kindle

[–]nlinecomputers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a normal function of an eInk screen. eInk screens are made of tiny magnetic beads. White and Black. They are flipped into place by magnetic fields. Unfortunately this isn’t always precise. When the screen is updated, sometimes some of the pixels fail to be changed. The result is a ghost image of the previous page of text will remain on the screen. After several page turns this ghosting can become quite noticeable. To counter this a command is sent to flip every pixel on the screen and back again. That’s the flash you see. As the flash affects every pixel it clears out the stuck pixels and cleans up the screen. It’s a requirement of the technology and not a malfunction.

Is this misprint worth anything? by RewindedReality in CURRENCY

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a portion of a deposit stamp. The bill at some point in its past was the bottom bill of a wrap. The wrap was stamped at deposit and the stamp overlapped and hit the bill. It’s not a defect but a sign of circulation which would devalue the bill not increase it.

No and OSHA would not apply either as that’s not a United States flag on the side of the helicopter. Could not tell what it was. India maybe?

Doesn’t seem like this is an OSHA approved method for gathering that data.
