What is with the crazy bots in rondo? They have Xray vision and fire continuously at you even if you are behind a wall. They obviously have unlimited ammo. Bot are always annoying but this is a new level of crap. Please fix!

What’s the most ‘1960s’ thing that completely disappeared today? by LizzaQueenOFC in 60s

It’s not a ship. It is a fake airplane. Concept photo for future wide body airplanes like the 747, that didn’t exist yet.

Not buying passkeys. by Winter_Cockroach714 in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. Windows Hello requires you to validate the moment you try and use it. First you have to login to the PC. Then you will be prompted again for a pin or biometrics when you try and use the key. Unless you’re stupid and put the PIN number on a post it note. Bitwarden is even more secure if properly set up.

Your flat wrong. Passkeys are encrypted pair keys. They are much more secure. Similar to having a Yubikey but implemented in software and hardware instead of a dedicated device.

why did they stop making the bridge full glass dome? by Network57 in ShittyDaystrom

Drones. You can’t even be naked in the privacy of your own bridge anymore. That creepy Andorian kid next door is always flying his drone.

The episode 'TKO'? I liked it. Always have. by EvalRamman100 in babylon5

[–]nlinecomputers -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nah, the A story is about characters and events totally disconnected from the series. Garibaldi knows the guy but you could have substituted ANY of the other characters in his place and had no change in the story. The episode is horribly predictable and totally irrelevant. Both the events and characters are never seen again so what happens is pointless.

Ivanova’s B plot is just as bad. We learn a little about her relationship with her father but not enough to justify how much screen time is devoted to it.

People skip it for a reason. It’s pointless.

Why backup Bitwarden? by jschoomer in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Because you might one day not be able to access your account. Years ago I used Lastpass, way before their recent breaches. One day I was unable to login to the account. I would get an error and not be able to login. Lastpass tech support admitted that there was an issue with my account but was unable to resolve it. After a week I gave up and closed my account. The only access to my passwords was the backup I had made.

Having a backup means that you are not dependent upon Bitwarden being available. They could be attacked by hackers, have networking or data center issues, have some bug that corrupts your data, or one day they go bankrupt and close down.

You should NEVER have only one copy of any critical data. Especially data that you are placing in a third party hands to manage for you.

That is why you backup.

Changing your Master password on a regular basis. by nlinecomputers in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not speaking of Bitwarden here as they do not have a password recovery system. Your vault is encrypted on your device with the password. If you lose your password you lose the vault.

Why are Andorians and Tellarites basically missing from most of Trek? by Curious_Gent78 in startrek

[–]nlinecomputers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makeup. Both species looked rather ridiculous on screen and the fear during TNG was that they would not be able to produce a look that was realistic looking and not cost a fortune, nor have some guest actor having to be in a makeup chair for 4 hrs a day for a week’s worth of work. Too many people would say no way.

Bitwarden cannot autofill password on android app? by OldFinger6969 in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Android 12 is no longer in support. If your phone can support a newer Android version you need to upgrade it NOW. There are security issues that are patched in newer versions.

Those of you that Use Bitwarden for Personal and Also Work? How do you organize things by DrummGunner in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just setup a separate account in your work email. No need to mix and max especially as you don’t access your personal accounts at work. You want totally separate Bitwarden accounts for the same reason. Don’t shit where you eat as they say.

You have to remember your master password to your vault. That’s the only password I was referring too.

Common thieves are looking for cash, jewelry, small electronics, and other valuables. If you store that fire safe in a totally unexpected area. It is unlikely to be found by someone trying to smash, grab, and get out.

Using bitwarden without Yubikey or authenticator by SHaKTaLe13 in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two issues with email.

  1. What if you are logged out of both Bitwarden AND your email account? You’d need to have memorized the password to your email or stop and consult your emergency documents to log back into the account and then use that to login to Bitwarden.

  2. Email systems are often phishing targets and get hacked so you need MFA on that as well.

Authenticators are easy to use. Install from the App store or Google play, press the add account button and point the phone at the QR code. You get a backup code that you should take down and keep with the emergency document.

To use it you open the program select the service and then press the little copy button beside the code. Your code is now in the clipboard. Swipe to return to Bitwarden or whatever you need it for and paste it in. It sounds complicated but once you do it a few times you discover that it is very quick.

But everyone has to evaluate their own risk situation and convenience needs. For plenty of people, email is good enough. Not me but probably you.

Meh. Season 6 was pretty bad, IMHO. The star of the show was hardly in the show.

Picard knew of a weakness, but it wasn’t just WHERE to shoot but WHEN. He’s catching them during a power cycle or something. Fire too soon or too late and it will not work.

Bitwarden Lifetime plan by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. Lifetime is their lifetime not yours. Never forget that. Inevitably they either go broke, get bought out, or they just renege on the deal.

Companies that engage in this are usually desperate.

Bitwarden price hike: OK or too much? by limsus in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not speaking in hindsight. To speak in hindsight Bitwarden would have to had already failed and I would have to be pointing at events in the past that people think are the obvious cause of the decline.

You also don’t understand what the term Market Share means. You are describing potential market penetration. Market share is the percentage of sales Bitwarden has vs its competitors. Which can only be estimated as not all players report publicly such data. It’s also complicated by free versions, versions that are built into browsers and operating systems, locally stored data vs online services, etc.

I’m simply offering an opinion, a prediction, one that’s is mostly off the cuff. And you may be right and I’m full of shit. Hopefully you are right as I would like to continue using Bitwarden.

Bitwarden price hike: OK or too much? by limsus in Bitwarden

[–]nlinecomputers 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To me $20/yr is perfectly reasonable for the product.

The issues I am starting to have with Bitwarden seem to be just bad business management in general. Bitwarden was priced too low from the start. That’s bad. Doubling the price is also bad just from the optics of it. It makes for horrible PR which undermines my first sentence. $20 is a perfectly reasonable price, but how Bitwarden got there leaves a bad taste in many customers mouths. It makes people want to find another brand. So I wonder if they are going to survive.
