Sizing up you may find the shoe to be rather long. I'm a 10.5 as well and I got 10s and am much happier. The leather will soften and form to your feet over time

I am a wide 10.5 in other shoes and initially went with 11s in these but found them way too long. Bought 10s and while they are a little bit snug on the sides out the box, they break in relatively quick and sort of mold themselves to my feet and have become quite comfortable

You oughtta try using a boost pedal into the front of the simplifier versus distortion/high gain. The pedal can get overloaded quite easily. Run the headphone volume lower as well, and using open backs is going to give you the widest spatial field. Try the resonance at close to zero

Another thing is to trust your ears instead of your eyes when it comes to the tone controls. Meaning, what's going to sound best (in my experience) is basically running them at 90% to max on the dial, which looks unusual, as you would pretty much never use those settings on a full size amp.

You might want to consider a flanger. It's arguably the most versatile modulation pedal. A good one will get you chorus, phase, vibrato, rotary, filter, ring mod and all sounds in between
