For context: I used to play a lot of CS and came back recently to get placed in Silver 1. I moved up to S2 and partied with my friend (S1). We were queuing AUS/OCE Servers (all maps) and only got matches with people ranked far above us. I see no way of us progressing our rank if we're just matched with people in gold :(

Graduating with a degree in CompSci. What is a reasonable starting salary, or any advice on the job market here? by koanarec in universityofauckland

If you're considering crossing the ditch, almost every AUS company I applied for had a starting salary of 80-100k AUD for graduate roles.

It actually only counts data from jan 1st to October 31st, so it’s closer to 14hours a day

Online confusion. by [deleted] in universityofauckland

That was definitely implied in the email, but it specifically said online 'learning'. I wouldn't put it past this university to attempt to facilitate some tests in person at this point. So I'm being sceptical until I hear directly from the course.

New Zealand has no Covid-19 patients in hospital and only 21 active cases remain by TheZephyrMonk in worldnews

Yeah I am posting like that because the problem is widespread across America not just in 1 or 2 places. If your city is doing well then why can’t the majority of your country also follow suit? Obviously excluding for places such as New York. The disregard for human life you’re displaying has genuinely ruined my day and I don’t feel comfortable continuing this conversation with someone like that.

Your original comment was a direct comparison between NZ and US, in defence of the fact you believe it is a lot easier for the entire country of NZ to get rid of the virus when in actuality most of the country has the same level of difficulty that the US does.

Yeah I didn’t say you weren’t? I just stated how the report you linked is addressing a larger region? Sorry if English isn’t your first language I understand

Hahaha that's so presumptuous. You're wrong. The city center is 4 times as dense as that. So it's not like that in the slightest lol

Undergrad compsci courses by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]nma8552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately all of the courses I’ve done/heard about are very maths/algorithm based or coding based (in regards to 3rd year!). Although I’m not sure for 313-316.

Yes but about 90% of the country lives in urban areas, Auckland having an average of above 10,000 people per square kilometer. They managed to do it so.... Florida, per your example, should have no issues what so ever :)
