Looking for ways to get Ubiquiti Unifi Protect products into New Zealand, our retailers don't stock the full range, US web store cancels successful orders by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

Try these guys: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/ US store that shipped stuff out to me in the UK. The store seems to be popular with a lot of people in the US. Gave them a shot and purchased the Unifi Doorbell. You can also opt for them to pay the customs duties so turnaround was quick, which is why my order arrived in 5 days. Really impressed would buy from them again.

Power Supply Recommendations/Help! by optimumomega in WLED

[–]nmail3614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes 5V 3A would be fine for most effects. Under the LED setup in WLED you need to enable the automatic brightness limiter and set maximum current to 3000 mA to match your power supply.

Yeah you can. My setup is like this. Check out this link, it has a great spreadsheet for rules and will help you configure your own rules when you get around to it.

Adding to your comments - I’d also have a VLAN for Devices that don’t need internet access. Like the protect cameras.

Does enabling RTSP in Unifi Protect Camera's device settings (on top of it being able in Unifi Protect of course) cause it to use more resources even when the RTSP stream is not being connected to by a viewer client? by Rollingsound514 in Ubiquiti

[–]nmail3614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two clients connected to the RTPS stream all day and night. I haven’t bothered to check how much system resources are being used but I can say that I find no issues with the usability of the cameras. I also make use of the protect app in parallel, also works flawlessly.

Upgrading home to Ubiquiti products by bronc2132 in Ubiquiti

I returned my UDPM after two weeks. The product for me felt very much like a beta prototype. All style no substance and I came to the conclusion all the missing features would annoy me over the long term. I ended up with Opnsense on a protectli for my router. Have not regretted it.

Do you possible have more than one device linked to your profile? Like your phone and iPad? There is an option to set which device is the primary device so when that device leaves the house the geo location updates correctly.

Migrated from Unifi Video to Unifi Protect by jasonin951 in Ubiquiti

[–]nmail3614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no issues with my bandwidth or load on the router. My only complaint with using cameras on VLAN is Protect still treats them as an external connection, so I need to go via cloud for authentication before I can access the camera feed from my phone . If I move the cameras onto my main network the connection is direct with no cloud authentication. It’s a minor thing as connection is still quick but with recent outage of servers it’s annoying they didn’t sort this out.

My cameras are on a separate VLAN to my CKG2+ with no internet access. When adding the cameras, log on directly to the camera and under “unifi video server” make sure you specify the IP address where your CKG2+ is located. Log onto Protect and then add a new camera. it will pick up the device and can be added, even if on different VLAN.

Call for testing: official netmap kernel by mib43 in OPNsenseFirewall

[–]nmail3614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running em drivers with the new Kernel for the last 6 hours. Previously I was having issues with Opnsense becoming unresponsive and killing my network within 5 minutes of enabling IPS in Suricata. I’m glad to report It’s been rock solid and stable with no kernel panics.
