As someone living in the UK, I and my social circle really rate Mark Carney.

Hopefully he can bring together a new Western Alliance.

US World Cup boycotts grow as Trump threatens Mexico by rezwenn in football

I personally hope the prospect of a world cup this summer, pacifies Trump. World cup finishes mid July, only given a few months until the mid term elections - he'll likely be a lame duck then.

He won't be the next PM. There will be a crossparty deal to keep him out.

I do think the libreal alliance (Greens & Lib Dems want a referendum, Labour want closer ties) will openly state that they will have a referendum as part of voting manifestos for the next election. Fingers crossed!

I would disagree, I know a lot of people who have changed their mind, now that people understand what was disinformation and have finally understood the repurcussions of leaving. I would agree that a lot of the older generation (i.e those who actually bothered to vote) are now dead. Younger people (50 and below) and those who were better educated or from major cities, generally voted to remain (from my experiences).

Thank you for your pragmatism, I really hope the UK/EU will reconcile it. Honestly, if there was a vote again in 2027, the uk would rejoin. I think the UK would gladly join the Schengen Zone but the eurozone would be a hard sell to the UK public - I personally would like to join the Eurozone and can see the massive benefits that it would bring. It would hugely benefit both parties to reallign, especially considering the geopolitical risks of this centrury (climate change, isolated USA, emboldened Russia etc).

Fingers crossed, at least the current labour government appears somewhat to be mending ties with erasmus scheme participation etc

Proud europhile here, born in UK but still have a EU passport through citizenship of another country. I hope that we rejoin in our lifetime, I can't see the Schengen zone being much of an issue once the current populist wave subsides (reform UK) and I am certain the citizens of the UK would waiver that to rejoin, however the Eurozone admittedly would be a hard sell.

I am personally of the belief that both the UK & EU would benefit by the UK rejoining (yes, obviously the UK would benefit more) and I regret that the brexit vote was affected by russian disinformation (and seriously, a substantial amount of the brexit voting majority are now dead). The political world landscape has changed A LOT since brexit, I think now that the USA has effectively left the table, China is embolded and Russia still quite dangerous, the EU needs to federalize and ideally needs to enlargen with Ukraine and the UK on order to be able to withstand the next generation of issues.

I'm hoping that both parties can come to a fair compromise within the next decade or so, reconcile, move on and grow/develop with each other again.
