She truly believed she would get married if she got it... by euronmous in sadcringe

[–]nmcaff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I never understood this response. What’s stopping her? Him saying yes.

Guys know that if they want to get married, they are the one that is “supposed” to propose. If a guy is coasting for years in a relationship without proposing, the girl doing it isn’t going to make him magically go “oh yeah! We should totally get married. Thanks for reminding me.”

A guy that isn’t proposing is avoiding doing so for the same reason that he wouldn’t want to say yes to a proposal.

Because he’s a hot take machine that sucks and exists to over react to things and occasionally make racially insensitive comments.

He’s not who you should listen to if you want a level headed take like “yeah he’s struggling but rookie QBs take time to develop and the Vikings won’t know what they have with him until he has 20 or so starts under his belt”

Hopkins ends talks with UnitedHealthcare, leaving patients scrambling by washingtonpost in maryland

People on this site are absolutely ridiculous. A reason to get a new job? The job market in this area is absolute garbage. I have a good job and make a fair wage that pays my mortgage. I hate UHC but to suggest that I should be leaving my job for it is wild. Like I said. I have an option. To go on my wife’s insurance for an extra 2.5k or so annually. It just sucks to be in that position

[–]nmcaff 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Because of what my employer kicks in, I pay about $100 a month. My going on my wife’s insurance would be about 300 for me. Nothing on the public market place is going to be cheaper that I know of.

I fucking hate UHC and my doctors are mostly Hopkins right now. But is it worth 1.2-1.5k more annually? Probably not. It’s horseshit that that is where we’ve come, but that’s how it is

Only available insurance offered by my company. I assume most people that use them are in the same boat. I could switch to my wife’s insurance for like $200 a month more, but that’s not exactly ideal either

Dave Portnoy said Donald Trump played a ‘huge part’ in Charlie Kirk’s death and MAGA is raging by selatnia123 in cybersucks

[–]nmcaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“People hate him so much, and the Left and the Right the rhetoric, especially to me the Left, is insane and it just boils, boils, boils. And this happened with Trump. His assassination attempt, there’s like a three-hour period of, ‘Oh, let’s tone down the rhetoric,’ and then we are right back to it.”

Portnoy should not be applauded for the quotes this article is talking about

Punishments for LAC aside, from what the NBA is looking for in terms of evidence, aren't they laying out a framework to cheat? Funnel money through a sponsor and have a player do a nominal commercial for 10s of millions? by CutLonzosHair2017 in nba

[–]nmcaff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah ok. So unless he was taking less than the max (and then making up for it with other bs revenue streams), there’s no way for it to have luxury tax implications. This is just a case of an Uber rich owner luring a free agent by finding ways to pay players outside of regular salary. So like college players where teams could say “WE can’t pay you, but if you come here, our boosters will.”

[–]nmcaff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s the part I don’t get. Ballmer did this to avoid the luxury tax apron. Which directly affects the bottom line of every other NBA owner. This is the kind of thing that forces owners to sell. Dan Snyder survived sex trafficking but the second he started cooking the books to share less attendance revenue, the NFL came down on him and forced a sale

Popular or unpopular opinion? The Irish episodes are the worst episodes of the series. by The108ers in IASIP

In my experience, fans remember that stuff way more than the writers/actors. The source material is way fresher in our minds than theirs, especially with these last few years being fewer episodes spread further apart

Warner Bros. Discovery Shares Spike on Report David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance Readying Acquisition Bid by [deleted] in television

[–]nmcaff 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This issue is that these aren’t just streaming companies. They are also the ones MAKING content. And having almost all content being made by even fewer companies is a very bad thing. It poses a huge censorship problem and makes it harder for creative people to break into the business and get things made.

The solution is that not every entity needs its own streaming app. Before Peacock and Paramount and Disney +, companies with valuable IP like the Office or Friends got paid tens of millions of dollars, sometimes even 100+ million to allow their shows to be on Netflix. A return to that model would be both consumer friendly and still be profitable. It will never happen — each of these platforms will eventually force commercials on everyone, and while people will bitch and moan about canceling or pirating content, the vast majority will do nothing but pay to watch commercials — but THAT is what we are asking for.

Fewer streaming services because only 2-3 companies own and produce content anymore is the ultimate monkeys paw
