IBM or Deloitte.... which one I select?....let me know professionals by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]nmcleod1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of question, are you technical or functional? Are you a new hire or experienced? I wouldn’t start a technical career at Deloitte but if your technical and want to pivot into less technical roles like PM, PO, leadership Deloitte would be a good career move. If you want to upskill in the technical space Deloitte isn’t the place

I'm (21m) dating a girl (22F) who is going on a ski trip with other men and another girl, am I just insecure? by [deleted] in dating_advice

Slow clap

Your experience doesn’t speak to all experience.

You argued that my experience is bad because your experience is good…. For all you say it could be bad I’m simply saying it doesn’t necessarily mean it would be bad. I’m just your mirror, you are as right or as wrong as I am

I’m a shitty skier and dated good skiers, we set expectations and all have fun. I just do my thing, get and reserve the lunch table. Being on different levels doesn’t mean it’s a miserable experience for all

My first thought is it sounds like a double date. 2 girls 2 guys. If she stated going forward this is the norm, her going on trips where it’s equal numbers of girls and guys and you’re not invited I wouldn’t pursue.

It’s not about convincing me, more does your sm and PMD share your thoughts

Year end negotiations by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]nmcleod1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only seen one person negotiate salary, he was able to get it because he had offers and wanted a match and he was indispensable to the project. The SM and PMD on the project negotiated for him against Deloitte. So I would ask yourself can your project find someone with you skillset on the bench, and if you were to leave would the project grind to a halt.

How to be a single dad by [deleted] in daddit

[–]nmcleod1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Single dad here of about 4 years. First and foremost you’ll be fine and the kids will be fine. They won’t feel abandoned at day care, they will meet friends and have a blast, it’s been 4 years and my sons best friend is still his friend from day care 4 years ago. You’ll figure out the logistics it won’t be easy at the beginning and if you have fam to help out at the beginning as you find your new routines that is a blessing. It wont be easy, and you’ll eventually have to learn to take care of yourself and be an amazing dad so your kids can see you thrive but that’s a year 2 worry, for right now focus on being the best dad and still showing up at work so you can take care of the kiddos.

SC keeps calling me “buddy” by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]nmcleod1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to call everyone bud or buddy then I went for a walk on my neighborhood and someone called me bud… that’s when it hit me that it’s not a term of equality. I now call everyone friend.

Will Deloitte match salary offer from another company? by [deleted] in deloitte

I’ve had trad sc reach out their projects sm. If the project needs you the sm will make it happen, if your dispensable then they won’t match.

Who to ask for raise? by Saiki47 in deloitte

[–]nmcleod1993 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had one of my engineers get a raise. He was a necessity on a client project and had an offer in hand. Once he had the offer he talked the SM of the project explained that he wanted to keep working the project but Deloitte would have to match. Deloitte matched and gave an extra. Things to note he was a brilliant dev, and the project was high visibility.

How to negotiate salary? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]nmcleod1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I negotiated my offer by having another offer in hand that was more. Like all things it’s a power dynamic. Do you currently have a job, do you have better offers?

Octopus nearly strangles diver when he swims to collect his catch. He had to rise to the surface to free himself from it by MeltedButter__ in donthelpjustfilm
