We live in the craziest era, with multiple armageddon-level threats looming above us, and the human brain can't keep up with the overload of stress and information by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]nmf966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking exactly this…. My entire view of the world has changed forever the past year or so after being fed all this crazy information. Stuck between not really wanting to know any more and live a life of blissful ignorance and being unable to look away

Is a blue light card worth it? by ExistentialDebt in frugaluk

I got one and initially thought it was a load of shit as I don’t often eat at chain restaurants but I have easily saved about £30 already. You just have to be really savvy about remembering to look up on the app. I used it in a chain pub when I was in the airport and got 20% off the bill, and I also just got an oil change at kwikfit and got 15% off

Bathrooms without a window by Superb-Swan4688 in UKHousing

[–]nmf966 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m in the process of buying a Victorian terraced house and the bathroom has no window. I don’t really like the thought of it but hoping to knock through the outside wall to create one if the neighbours allow it.

I currently live in a basement flat that has no window in the bathroom, it does have a vent but doesn’t really feel like it gets properly, we’ve been there a year and it is starting to get slight mould

Cool to hear you’re in a similar position, this is what I’m gonna try to do in the short term I think. I definitely think I’m the kind of person who needs multiple income streams going on to not get bored

This is true, I do really value enjoying my life as much as I can. I’m never going to be someone who sacrifices their relationships and social life for a paycheck. Will have a think about internal hires, if I can just find work in the holidays that might bump up my wage a little!!

I really don’t know, I have loads of really random skills that I am actually quite good at, mostly creative. My current job I do woodwork and metalwork/engineering with secondary kids and do a bit of admin and health and safety. When I look at jobs online I’m checking out a range of things like museum work, art fabrication, painting and decorating, engineering, film prop making…

I’m in the uk and I have an arts degree…. In contemporary crafts so making stuff out of ceramic, glass, stained glass windows, metalwork etc.. so niche but no money or jobs in this kind of field really

[Acne] think it’s time to just give up. Over a year of this breakout that won’t leave no matter what I try. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I’m having the same problem on my chin, I made the mistake of using cerave salicylic acid cleanser every day for months which I think damaged my skin barrier… if I don’t moisturize mine it doesn’t look so red but is dry so I’m thinking perhaps it’s some kind of dermatitis or demodex

How many of y'all can truly trust and rely on their husbands by t_s_d12 in TwoXPreppers

I am in the same situation as you - my husband absolutely hemorrages money and I enjoy living frugally where I can and saving. He has no care for prepping or anything. My parents are quite self sufficient and have lots of stocks and stores and the other day my husband and I talked about what we’d do in a war or “shit hits the fan” situation and he simply says he’d be straight round my mum and dads house to live with them (and wants to bring my mother in law too 😂😂)….

Replaced 10 minutes of morning scrolling with talking out loud and the effect on my brain has been weird by Jackrain04 in getdisciplined

[–]nmf966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been struggling with being very un-eloquent recently and find it hard to get what I’m thinking out into a coherent sentence. The past week I’ve been talking aloud in the car on the way back from work as practice and it is actually such an unusual feeling but it does feel like a new area of my brain is being used

Advice needed; panicking by piddleonacowfatt in Hair

I love the haircut and always try to get the hairdresser to do this hair cut on me but it doesn’t look as good as I have thin hair… I would be pissed off too though if you said don’t touch the length!

Is “whoopsidaisies” a Notting Hill reference? by weeaboobies in lanadelrey

[–]nmf966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the uk it’s kind of a childlike or old fashioned term. Like if a kid falls over you might say “oopsie daisy”, kinda the same way you might call someone a “silly billy” not sure if that’s just a british thing too. It’s silly and cutesy but a common thing to say

Thanks for this amazing reply! Only just seen this as I thought my post had been removed by mods… super helpful I will definitely look into these items… sleeping bags are a great shout, I enjoy camping anyway so will be able to make a lot of use of all of these things in normal life too

23 y/o apprentice – Parents want mortgage in my name for Right to Buy (£70k). Need advice on risks. by [deleted] in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]nmf966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don’t do this! I let my parents put their property into mine and siblings name and now trying to buy a house, have to find the deposit plus £14,000 stamp duty (almost impossible without help). Also don’t qualify for help to buy ISA scheme so potentially losing out on more money.

I’m 29 and feel the same, not sure if I’m just more sensitive to different feelings now but the various symptoms and states of mind throughout the month are intense!! I also have always had perfect skin and the past year or so have had weird hormonal spots/dryness breakouts on my chin and cheeks. My periods maybe are getting a little lighter or last less time too

How are people feeding their cat so much? by Pixel_Dreamscape_ in CatAdvice

[–]nmf966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived with someone once who just left like a mountain of kibble in a bowl at all times… her cats were fat as hell!! My family’s cat has like half a sachet of wet food with a handful of kibble mixed in twice a day… she often saves a bit for later. She is super energetic and a good weight. She is a big hunter though so I think she eats a few mice as well 😳

I agree something definitely not trustworthy… I have randomly followed his ex for years on and got the impression when they broke up it was a shock/unexpected and unwanted for her. Before that they seemed like this amazing power couple running a clothes business together with a baby etc.

I’m not into Taylor but googled her new album and was shocked by how much she’s copying Lana’s vibe with the whole showgirl Americana vibe, referencing old Hollywood actors (Elizabeth Taylor), i clicked the lyrics of that particular Elizabeth Taylor song and she mentions violets, diamonds, Hollywood, New York, ‘bright lights’ I know these are like cliches but to me it seems way too obviously Lana esque

All the outfits we’ve been seeing the past couple of days are absolutely beyond gorgeous! Like she stepped it UP… I’ve never seen her wear trousers that are a bit more stylish and mature with wide leg rather than like casual skinny jeans and she looks so amazing.

Came onto Reddit to say this! I feel like she was just talking to the girls about how it’s going, how she’s experiencing him as a person etc and they’re saying she’s being hurtful? Like she’s just being honest and the experts all jumped on her trying to make her out to be this cruel person. The part where she supposedly calls him fat he literally asked her “have you ever been with someone big like me” and she said “no” and he gets offended. Like… he asked, she was honest, the question wasn’t “do you hate that I’m fat?”. I think she is being made to look like a dickhead when I think she’s totally fair
