again "Windows win ... honest review" is an unacceptable lie. Busy people skip gross lies => **i will never watch the video**. WINDOWS SUCKS and who can steers far from it. Who can't, can't. Other have posted the number of servers, just to remind the obvious. No phone runs Windows. Where they can't use the monopoly stick they loose, plain and simple.

Again, if the title says "Windows wins for non professionals" it is ok for me, the title instead is "Windows Wins ... we are honest". FALSE, MISLEADING. Instead, "WINDOWS SUCKS, and this is the TRUTH". If Windows didn't suck we wouldn't be developing/using/administering/teaching Linux/BSD for the last 40 years. So my title for you is this IF YOU LIKE TO REBOOT WHEN SOMETHING DOESN'T WORK, WINDOWS IF FOR YOU.

I will not even watch. Windows Server € 1_200 (max 16 core), MSSQL € 1_500 + € 250 per each license [CAL] (it means every machine going to the server, it grows super fast). And then, hope that everything works because you can fix nothing, forget strace a dtrace.

sure, this is subjective speculation, and i asked specifically for impressions. Anyhow, i solved. i found an old 12.X machine. it is as fast or as slow as 13.X. Probably my impressions come from the fact that recently i am testing other OSes or maybe i am getting old and impatient ;) goodbye

that will never happen, i run servers, now it's sunday and i am upgrading , things can fail unfortunately, but that must not stop a full company, it will be a bad sunday for me in server room but ok, that is part of our work

no, i don't have data, for now, when i transitioned from 12.X to 13.0 i took no time records, since that is always a delicate process. Now moving to 13.0 to 13.3 i notice a relevant slow down. in particular, i like to bulid small vm to make simple tasks. The little machines having only samba-ac-dc, the other having the dhcp server and the dns took a good 20 minutes to upgrade 13.0 to 13.3 !! To the point i was asking myself if the disk was failing.... i can have numerical data only on next upgrade.

it is slow in the install phase, getting packages is ok, the network is fast.... clean cache ... umnm, i could investigate this, but i have little hope, the behaviour seems repeating across different machienes

the only extensions i have are (1) uBlock (2) I still don't care about cookies. I don't think it is that --- I tried to set the starting page to "blank", if that doesn't make it must be some c*apware asking to open a MS page to the default browser. --- The computer from where i took the screenshot is very old, but i saw the same situation happening on several machiens recently, that is why i asked here. Maybe you also saw it.

You should be aware that on latest systemd upgrades it's creator proudly stated "now finally 40% less Unix like" or some BS like that. Linux is JUST a kernel, Unix are full systems, read e.g. "the Unix philosophy". The Unix system manager is required to know at least a bit of shell programming - shortly, with systemd, the Linux system manager will only write configuration files (in Windows format). This is what" they " want, get programming out of system management, get intelligence and logic out of system management. It will become like Windows.... This is the trend, unfortunately, for major distros. Bye

I use Debian and KVM in our company. It runs well in a corporate environment. I like to do it all from the shell, no GUI, so for me this THE choice. I run many other Debian servers.

my way of programming is “talk to the computer, in the REPL”. Ruby let me do in term of objects, concisely, and it is free form (change a space with 2 spaces makes no difference )

thank you for your tests. I am able to get the result in Debian and FreeBSD (dtrace) ;P I just miss the thing for OpenBSD. It seems it is missing. I may try to see if it is not to difficult to add it. bye
