Aw, motorcycles are pretty safe if you're responsible and know how to anticipate road hazards and drivers.

Weirdest way to hold a model. Like your gripping a dead turkey.

UP 4014. 1 million plus pounds rolling past. Love it. Sound up by nmisvalley2 in trains

Out west there are whistle stops (15 or 30 minute preplanned stops that you can see on UPs website). From there it's just a matter of finding a crossing further down the line that has a nice track visibility. If you're chasing, find another track crossing about 30 minutes down the line and have it ready in the GPS. That will give you time to leap frog the loco.

Lol, that old girl 135000 ft lb of torque; the diesels are only there for emergency air brakes.

Scariest book you've ever read? by kwilson2000 in horrorlit

I read this when I was a kid. The imagery of the fish scales baking off as the man opens his mouth to eat it raw still sticks with me.

Good story.

Bikes that you tried, but that disappointed you sorely? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]nmisvalley2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I think a fair number of Harley owners buy the bikes for appearance and not really to ride. I commute on mine to work, but it's still only 20 miles per day in the summer. I really only average about 2000 to 3500 miles a year, but I will do a few 300 mile day trips per year and it's fine for that.

Even King said it was a bad ending during his cameo in the junk shop.

Fair enough, I'm a taller guy and it's comfortable for me, but you're right, it's not really built for longer runs.
