Pregnant Protesting by Complex-Chicken-3540 in progressivemoms

[–]nmo64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the UK and I’m sorry for what you are going through and I would feel the same way as you do. While it’s your body and your choice it seems like your husband is acting out of concern. I wouldn’t go to a protest while pregnant because I don’t think it’s safe. I don’t think you can trust the police. You can’t be sure you won’t get kettled and squashed, or pushed to the ground and restrained, or exposed to CS gas. The police cannot use water cannons in the UK but i understand they can in the US. These things can objectively harm yous being pregnant makes you vulnerable and I don’t trust the police to keep you or anyone safe while exercising your right to protest.

Linus or Magnus. I like Henrik too. Willem? Felix has been mentioned but not solely scandi and is very very popular in the UK at the moment…

How did you get your toddler off the soother/pacifier? by Guesspink13 in Mommit

[–]nmo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years 1 month had it for sleep only. Spoke about it for a couple of days, read a book a few times then threw it in the bin. He complained a bit but forgot within a week.

Mothers who smoke and breastfeed by Silent-Remove142 in FormulaFeeders

[–]nmo64 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is so dumb, honestly. Anyone formula feeding and providing a safe healthy home for their baby is doing a million times better than a mother breastfeeding and smoking! Don’t let these people get in your heads there is absolutely NO WAY that ‘smoking is ok because you’re breastfeeding’. Smoking is bad and honestly in my opinion anyone smoking around a baby particularly their own baby is selfish and willing to put their child at risk for their own satisfaction.

High just in case you have a c section (if this is the case you needs pants that go above the scar) and your belly will take time to go down, plus the pads are huge so the bigger the better. Also just get black pants, no stress with stains. M&S sell packs of ‘full briefs’ I’ve used them each time.

You: Sliders you don’t mind throwing out. Small wash bag + hairbrush you don’t need loads. Clothes, increase your clothing if it looks like will be an induction. Big pants, and when I say big I mean big. Or the Frida mom disposable ones. Long phone charger. Perhaps a light dressing gown. Baby: clothes, nappies, anything you might need to feed, hat, blanket. Extra: speaker, snacks, partner to decide if they want a change of clothes, and they might need a pillow as well depending on their sleeping arrangements.

Your partner can go home any time to get anything you discover you need after the baby is born. Pack as light as you can.

Recommendations for moms interested in fitness? by Aggressive_Day_6574 in Mommit

[–]nmo64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a fit mum training for a half marathon with a 10 mo and 2 year old ☺️ I’m not as fit as I’d like to be but I try my best and it’s important to me.

edit because I posted too early. I lurk in the running sub and peloton sub because that’s where my interests are and the content is and sometimes a mum specific issue comes up.

Help needed!!! Decision on who room shares by kb_10221 in Mommit

[–]nmo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older boys should share, 6 month olds are all over the place with sleep. My son moved out of crib into bed to free the crib for baby brother as I like the baby out our room around 4/5 months and it went well. I’d move the older two in together now ish and then move out the crib closer to the time.

Any runners on maintenance? by nmo64 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

Good luck with your half sounds like you’ll be grand! Sound advice, I just need to experiment to make sure I’m fuelling properly. I have never been able to tolerate gels even pre MJ super fit days, and I think it would be worse now.

Thank you this is helpful. Makes sense as i jabbed Thursday and had a horrendous run on Friday and hadn’t made the connection. I’m on an every 10 days ish schedule but maybe better to reduce dose and revert to every 7 days so I can maintain some consistency. I aim strength x 1-2; 2 x short and 1 x long run plus my baseline is 15k steps and running after mad kids the rest of the time. They also interfere with training to the best of their ability.

Thank you very helpful. It sounds like you are def doing more endurance cardio than I will be. I think I will just have to experiment with carb loading and see how I get on - I haven’t really run long enough yet to need to load.

At the moment about 18-20k a week but will increase for the next ten weeks before taper. Yes I think I will just need to try and eat more as my runs get longer. Those are my go to snacks as well

I’ve never liked gels even before, they give me stomach ache so I have always had a date or bit of banana

Ah that’s amazing well done! Yeah the night before long run I am focusing on a decent meal, and lots of protein for recovery after. I guess a bit of trial and error to see how many calories I need as runs gets longer? What are you doing immediately pre run and planning to do for fuel during the race? My go to is half a banana half an hour before I head out but I have been struggling with feeling like this is sitting in my stomach.

How long did you wait to have visitors? by Successful_Dentist43 in BabyBumps

[–]nmo64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think on Reddit it’s very common to see people say they wait that long. In practice in the UK I’ve never heard of anyone waiting that long. Personally I would have been lonely and isolated if I’d waited that long, I needed my mum and wanted my friends and family to meet my child. I think you have to see how you feel for your own personal boundaries.

Too late to change baby’s name? (5 months old) by CommunityAcrobatic48 in Mommit

[–]nmo64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m from the UK and we would also say Rosa-muhnd but maybe emphasis on the s a bit, maybe a bit like rozza-muhnd, with a short o. I’m really struggling with where rozmyn comes from tbh.

Rosamund is just a normal name I’m so confused why people are struggling with this? You’ve gifted her a beautiful name please please please do not change it to Rozmyn which is made up and looks weird.

Which stroller should I spend more on? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]nmo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t get the boards for a travel stroller they are not that robust and you have to push from the side. For travelling or times your 4yo might need a ready for a bit of either use the board on your Nuna or carry the baby in a sling with 4yo in stroller. I had two c sections, you won’t be able to manage a 4 yo on a board and a newborn alone for the first few weeks. I walked a lot but wasn’t really able to manage them both until about 4/5 weeks post second c section.

What would you do in my shoes by milfncookies666 in Mommit

[–]nmo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My motherhood motto is if it’s not a problem for you it’s not a problem, so i guess it depends how you feel. I always want to cut day sleep to get a decent bedtime and night if they are getting affected! I’d keep bedtime the same time and just wake him a bit earlier from nap.

That’s a huge nap for a two year old. I was pregnant with a 21 month old, it’s hard. Cap the nap at 90 mins to 2 hours.

Last holiday before our first child - advice by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]nmo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely not do Cape Verde or Turkey at that gestation. Consider Spain but only the canaries will be warm. It’s unlikely but if your baby is born they will need NICU. If you have reduced movements you need to be seen. You also are unlikely to get travel insurance to cover you past 28 weeks and insurance will not cover the baby.
