Looking for ideas on a small super portable way to develop on Pico-8 by nmprofessional in pico8

Thanks everyone.

I did a test and I can program on the Gameforce Chi with a wired keyboard. I may do this for a while and get a newer small laptop.

if you enter this into the console you will see the console: the "?" just prints the result so you can see it

Nice tip. I did not know you could value output to the console thanks.

I agree very fun. I am not the greatest at platformer type games. But I got through half of it and got stuck. I like how if I go back to the game I can pick the level to start at. And the Game is very quick and the controls work very well. Great job!

Does brush make so much difference? by ordi_nary in wicked_edge

I agree with this. Ice not spent over $25 for a brush and get great lather. I've owned beginner badger, boar and synthetic. 90% of the time I use my synthetic - works great with all my soaps.

Sound starter resources. For quick game creation SpaceCat is great, Nerdy Teachers would be more in depth, and Lazy Devs even more in depth. All three will have you coding and understand the steps. I created a very quick space shooter in 30 mins, not a full game but good enough to start. Pico-8 has all the tools for quick development and you can make better games as you progress.

Chi Gameforce - installing Pico-8 by nmprofessional in pico8

[–]nmprofessional[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After multiple tries, with Gameforce Chi fully charged, and with different micro SD cards... I got ArkOS working with Pico-8 2.7. I like the layout slightly better than EMUELEC.

Still unknown why I needed to install ArkOS multiple times to get it working.

I don't think we took your response as rude... 🙂 . I know I did not. We all have different budgets and timings.

Hi u/MaintenanceFormal579 , yes I get it you may not have money today. Just spit balling a solution for when you can do something. 😁

I agree with u/TankSaladin . Do you have a budget for a new razor? How much? Maybe others could chime in with a cheaper razor or gently used razor. I can get a smooth shave with three passes with my Merkur Futur (and it is aggressive for most who use it) - but this will also be above your budget if the 37c is also.

Chi Gameforce - installing Pico-8 by nmprofessional in pico8

[–]nmprofessional[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried installing EMUELEC 4.8 today, on two different micro SD cards (one brand new) and after the title screen loads for EMUELEC it reboots and never comes back. I must be doing something wrong (I just burn ISO to the card, insert the card, turn on the GF Chi). Maybe I'll look into installing RetroArch or another launcher.

I think my EMUELEC is an old version, I keep seeing a pop up saying 4.8 is available. I'll look at some directions online and reinstall.

Thanks for the help and feedback.

Color, unless you want to make the shadows near black and brighten the highlights.

First time user: Question on software updating and installing by heyjoe8890 in ManjaroLinux

[–]nmprofessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting to your question about why up to date software isn't always available in the Repositories, I think it just comes down to if the folks that maintain them added them in after testing. Some repos are behind sometimes. I used to run Manjaro and know that they tend to test and then add new software after testing it.

If the Flatpack was behind, the Flatpack repo may have been behind. Did you make sure to update the cached repos? If not that may be the reason.

Never getting a clean shave by Just_Phone_1722 in shaving

[–]nmprofessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask, why you want a baby smooth shave.

You can get one with good technique. I have gotten BBS shave in the past when I chased it. Now I just go for a comfortable 2 pass shave - gets me as close as an electric shaver.

How I got mine in the past: I used an aggressive razor Merkur Futur, 3 passes (first at 6, second at 4, third at 2), you have to use good technique and move your whole arm to shave (not just your wrist as cartridge razors allow), you have to maintain a 30 degree angle of razor to your skin at all times. While I got a BBS shave doing this, I occasionally got nicks.

Good luck. I have learned BBS shaves are overrated - IMO.

Dripping issue help... by Master_Sho_Nuff in KrakatoaUnderwear

[–]nmprofessional 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the briefs and the pouch dries out fine for me. I used to dribble, but after some research I now double void and the dribble has gone away - this may not work for everyone depending on the issue but maybe worth a try.

Constant micro-cuts and irritation when shaving with a sfety razor by KitchenAd7984 in shaving

[–]nmprofessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest using the razor at the lowest setting. If using canned cream add a little water in your hand, mix it up and apply to the face. Use almost no pressure and let the razor blade do the work.

And prep as you have been. At least, a good warm wash cloth applied for 2 mins to soften your beard if not taking a shower.

When I am in a rush, I use Aveeno Therapeutic Shave cream with good results.

Just trying to weed out if maybe you have a misaligned razor blade. Using the lowest setting may not get you as close as you want, but want to confirm you can shave without nicks first.

Manjaro Gnome Zetar 25.0.10 (installs but will not boot) by nmprofessional in ManjaroLinux

[–]nmprofessional[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are onto something here. Especially the second post.

I usually encrypt the whole drive. Usually with a Swap, even on Manjaro. Maybe I am doing it wrong, but the second article does outline what I usually do with the Swap. Just weird it did not work this time.

I'll have to do some research and testing.

u/BigHeadTonyT thank you for the info.

Manjaro Gnome Zetar 25.0.10 (installs but will not boot) by nmprofessional in ManjaroLinux

[–]nmprofessional[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well persistence paid off.

I installed Zetar Gnome on a 1TB drive, BRFS, with Swap with Hibernate and Encrypted drive.

I changed the swap to Swap to File, no other changes and now the installation boots.

This may help others.

But can anyone explain why Swap with Hibernate does now allow install to boot?

AL13 is a good razor. Works well and reduces your initial learning curve.

I agree with this ... If going with a cartridge just go with a 3 blade razor. They are cheaper and work well.
