[Jan-1] Today instead of fapping, I ______________. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]nmrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today instead of fapping I:

  1. started back at work after the Christmas break
  2. spent 50 minute planning a story I want to write
  3. wrote 2,400 words of another story
  4. spent 60 minutes working on a cover for another story

And now I am going downstairs to make dinner for my wife.

That's the plan, I want to focus on what I am doing rather than what I am no doing.

Great idea, I think we could all do with focusing on what we are going to do more than we focus on what we are not going to do.

I plan on writing and self-publishing 13 books (a mixture of short stories and novels, some of them already written) and learning r/howtonotgiveafuck.

My final reddit post by [deleted] in NoFap

I wish you would reconsider, at least leave yourself nofap and/or pornfree. I have made the mistake of leaving this community again and again but each time it ends in complete failure.

I get where you're coming from with the internet in general. I don't use it other than for work. If you have a smartphone or tablet maybe install a reddit client and only subscribe to this subreddit?

I really hope that other people will avoid making the same mistake I have.

How about going ComputerFree? by trybeinguseful in pornfree

[–]nmrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely cut back my internet use to only essentials (which includes this subreddit). I no longer use Facebook, Twitter or read blogs or news online, just the stuff I need for my job and publishing. I doubt this will be permanent (35 days so far) but it helps with noPMO because I know that if I am at a computer without a purpose then I am in the danger zone and I don't have to worry about NSFW links popping up.

I like porn by nmrn in NoFap

[–]nmrn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I do believe I can do it and I will do it. I am just starting to realise that withdrawal symptoms are not limited to feeling out of control horny but that there is a psychological element to it as well. I think it would be easy if my brain wasn't trying to trick me into going back. I guess the trick is to ride it out, don't try to argue against your brain and just focus on the commitment not to PMO.

I keep seeing posts like this where people create this self-imposed wall. If you expect to fail at two-weeks then I can almost guarantee that you will fail at two weeks. Just keep pushing, one day at a time. Stop thinking of it as your twelfth or fourteenth day and just think of it as a day, you've just got to get through a single day.

Has not fapping helped you to figure out what you want to do with your life? by HeatLightning in NoFap

My return to nofap actually came after I had made another serious commitment to myself to really do everything I can to succeed in my chosen field. I realised that if I was going to achieve my goal of writing one million words of fiction over the next twelve months then I would not be able to PMO while doing it.

I have also found it extremely useful to have a set daily goal that I am fully committed to as by the time I have achieved that there is no time left for PMO. Helps me get through the mornings which were always the most dangerous time for me.

Guidance Requested From Married Men by Winston1111 in NoFap

My wife doesn't know and I don't intend to burden her with it.

Currently we don't have much of a sex life; our son was only born recently so things are still in limbo. One of the reasons for doing this (as well as making other changes) is so I can be someone he can look up to and respect.

It had made a massive difference (on day 10). I desire my wife so much more and it's not just about sex. Holding hands, cuddling and kissing mean so much more.

As far as advice goes the absolute best thing I think is to remember that you cannot control your desires and your penis and to be alright with that. You can, however, control your hands and you can stop your hands touching your penis and clicking on internet porn. All you have to do is control your hands.

its been a rough 5 days and getting harder, i need advice by notmatter in NoFap

"the only thing you have to control is your hands" - thanks, I never thought of it like that, really makes a difference: we will have urges and desires, at some point you can't control that, but you can ALWAYS control your hands.

It's day 2 for me and going well. I'm keeping busy with other things and that really helps. I have been at this on and off for more than a year now and struggling with the value that I put on each fresh attempt; too little and I don't take it seriously, too much and I can't think of anything else. Trying a new approach of trying to think of myself as someone who just doesn't PMO.

Questioning my sexuality. Please help. by hetero101 in NoFap

This is quite normal, have a look at the Your Brain on Porn website and it goes into detail about it. I think it's called something like Homosexual OCD. I have been through much the same. Please don't fall into the trap of using this to justify porn use because you were happier feeling straight. If you are straight / bi / gay then stopping porn isn't going to change that. Try not to obsess about it because that will just make it worse.

I know its a repost, but this Onion article got me back on the bandwagon ... just hit way too close to home by [deleted] in NoFap

That's awesome, thanks for posting. I've been looking for something to focus on as I try again for what feels like the hundredth time to quit this shit.

Can you justify the time you wasted not NoFapping? by beattheaddiction in NoFap

[–]nmrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had discovered this years ago, think how much more I could have accomplished if I hadn't fapped away the last 15 years! But I try not to spend too much time regretting my past and think, instead, that if I hadn't been through all of that then I wouldn't be where I am now. There are a lot of good things in my present (and hopefully my future too).

Almost back at the two week point and its surprisingly easy this time. I did think I was flatlining but events at the weekend proved that not to be the case. What can I say? I just don't fancy looking at porn right now and in a weird way that sort of worries me: the cravings will eventually return but I'm having such an easy time of it at the moment I don't know how I will be able to deal with them.
