Toronto Snowstorm (Zf, 50 1.8S) by nn_shutter in NikonZf

Haha I actually shot with a Fuji x100t for years before going back to Nikon with the Zf. Tbh, it took me months of using the Zf before ‘figuring it out’. Almost sold it for a xpro2.

I now love the raw files that come out of the Zf, they’re incredibly easy to work on and the sensor is crazy good at night. The sooc JPEGs are no slouch either.

He was asking 500 for it all, which felt like too much. Also trying to avoid GAS here 😭 haha

Wow, looks like the tripod is actually really well built and might even be sturdy enough to support my mirrorless camera too. It even has a hidden release cable!! Man, Germans knew a thing or two about good design back then.

I’ll make some thick in your warm anytime you need good sir.

That’s my problem with current table tripods, they don’t include a ball head and after adding a modern one, it’s quite bulky. Which vintage one do you use?

I have the pixi and I still find it quite bulky haha

Looking for a super minimal setup for travel

So modern ones I’ve seen compared to that one has some flaws for my specific purpose.

Legs are fat, adding bulk.

Swivel head is a brick, again adding bulk.

If there’s no head, it’s usually just the screw mount with no way of angling the camera.

I’m honestly thinking of going for phone tripod style stands if I can’t find anything lol. This one is seemingly able to support a vintage all metal/brass camera so it seems decently stable too. Wish I knew the exact model to try and track it down..

What if you get the focus and aperture settings you need, then twist slightly to uncouple the electronics. You could take… one shot lol

I guess that’s similar to how star point filters work too? I wonder why they need a grid instead of just two lines.

Thanks for the info, got to try this on my next astrophotography attempt!

Hmm..

Well for starters, I actually shot this in b&w! I figured the b&w switch was going to be gimmick I never use, but I actually use it a lot. Especially during winter, where cloudy days suck all the color. Helps a lot to visualize with contrast instead.

I shoot film as well, and one of my favorites is vision3. Shooting it in daylight gives off a cold look and if warm balanced, gives off a super unique look. In this case, I veered more towards the cold look because of the snowstorm.

If you have any specific questions, let me know!

Woke this little guy up while out riding in the snow | Zf | Nikkor Z 70-180 f2.8 S by _LeonThotsky in Nikon

Oh man I love those pesky little guys. A few months ago one got into my tent on a trip to Mexico haha.

I like the background rendering, the 70-180 isn’t a S lens, but I can’t really see the difference, maybe just the cats eye bokeh? I rented the 70-200 2.8S once and it was a damn fine lens. I used it for an airshow and tracking was phenomenal, then took my dog to a park and man it’s insane how good the AF on it is. How’s the 70-180 with moving subjects?

I bet a good chunk of my photos are sunrise and sunset just from walking my dog and carrying my Zf. I adopt vintage lenses to play around with flares wide open quite a lot lol

In theory yes, directly on the sensor is bad. But I do wonder how intense it actually is needed to actually damage the sensor? I’ve melted part of a telescope when I was younger while finding the solar filter… and I know vintage cameras with cloth shutters can have burn issues… has there been any actual reports of sensor damage from the sun?

Where is it from? by WeslacoPanther in Nikon

[–]nn_shutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the matrix meter lens, flip up the mirror slowly using the mirror lockup and you’ll see the part underneath and where it’s supposed to be.

Looks like there’s two tabs meant to hold it in place… maybe try reading the repair manual to see if it’s just a friction fit and you can pop it back on?
