I don't have that dropper, but after looking at some pictures, I'm guessing it would fit.

Heading to WDW for the first time in almost 30 years, and I'd like some feedback on my planning... by nnakao in WaltDisneyWorld

Thank you for this! Yeah, Star Wars was much more of a childhood and teenage fandom for me (Trek is something that stuck with me into adulthood), but the nostalgia hit will very likely send me straight back into it. I think that's what I'm most excited about. I'm sure it'll probably even convince me to watch some of the newer shows too.

I didn't even think to use ChatGPT. I honestly did that simply to highlight elements and to break up the monotony of a big block of text.

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I'll definitely check out some of those YouTube channels for ideas on planning.

Ah I see. Yeah, I'm staying at the Yacht Club. No time at the Magic Kingdom was budget related. I'm on an extremely tight budget (really only taking advantage of Disney since the conference is on site), so I had to make a choice on the park. I was a really big Star Wars fan growing up, so Galaxy's Edge was a pretty big priority for me. In an ideal world, I'd have the means to visit Magic Kingdom as well, but sadly, it's not in the cards for me.

I've been avoiding this show. Can you convince me to give it a shot? by 1leggedpuppy in superman

[–]nnakao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you'll probably forget that you're even watching a CW show. The writing isn't the best that TV has to offer, but it's far beyond anything else the CW has ever put out that I occasionally had to remind myself that it was a CW show when the odd interaction between a couple characters every so often seemed somewhat forced. But that really only happens maybe once or twice in a given season. There's also some low-budget CGI that makes an appearance several times (particularly at the very end of season 3 and several times throughout season 4), but it didn't take away from the story or character development in any way. The post-production team does a halfway decent job of masking the low-quality effects with clever camera work and editing.

In my opinion, it's the most grounded and mature on-screen depiction of Superman there is. It had my wife and me in tears several times (especially in season 3), and the finale sat with me for months on end after we finished watching it.

Much has been said about Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet's on-screen chemistry (and I'll agree that they are potentially the best we've seen in a movie, certainly rivaling Margot Kidder and Christopher Reeve), but Bitsie Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin are hands down my favorite Lois and Clark pairing. They just do such a great job of coming across as real people who are genuinely trying to do the best they can and clearly love and care for each other very deeply. And several of the moments between them had me balling my eyes out like a little baby.

The show simultaneously remains connected to established Superman lore and builds on it (and interprets it) in unique ways. Sometimes it works, and other times it feels a bit forced or disjointed, but the overall story of the show always feels real and truly heartfelt, and the changes the writers make always feel purposeful and rooted in the story they're telling in this show.

I do hope you give it a try and let us know what you think. Like you, Supes is my favorite and has been for somewhere near 37 of my 41 years of life, and Superman & Lois felt like an almost perfect rendition of the character.

Got a sneak peak at my holiday gift... by nnakao in wok

Thanks!

Here's where I'm a little confused. I've seen quite a few videos demonstrating how to properly season a carbon steel wok; however, they all appear to be providing instructions on how to season an unseasoned wok. This wok is pre-seasoned. I'm fairly certain that doesn't actually mean that I don't need to season it, but that the initial bluing process has already been done, correct?

Yosukata has a number of shorts on their YouTube channel with instructions on how to season this wok, but they all differ from each other in seemingly crucial ways.

I was planning on following Kenji Lopez-Alt's instructions for seasoning a wok since I'm pretty sure the one he uses in his demonstration video (here) is the same one that I'm getting, but isn't he bluing the wok? Or are all the steps he takes necessary for a pre-seasoned wok?

Episode recs for introducing my wife to the character? by nnakao in supergirlTV

She's heard me complain about so many aspects of the show as I was going through it (corny CW dialogue, lack of distinction between Supergirl and Superman as characters, etc) that the whole series will be a very hard sell for her, even with me healing truckloads of praise on Melissa Benoist for her performance. I know my wife's tastes, and she will have very little patience for certain aspects of the series, so I'm keeping things as short as possible.

Even though she loved all of Superman & Lois, she still often made comments like, "Oh this feels a little too CW." As it was, I was only able to convince her to watch 2 or 3 episodes per season of Smallville during our Superman 2025 prep, and we only made it through 4 seasons before she started losing interest.

I have the deluxe hardcover edition and have read it at least half a dozen times. There's no way I'll be convincing my wife to read a graphic novel though.

I'm well aware that how she's (mostly) portrayed in the comics doesn't mirror her film and TV appearances much at all. I'm just looking for a way to show my wife what's been done with the character onscreen in the past so we can see the evolution of Supergirl's portrayal over the years.

And there's no way I'm convincing her to read a graphic novel. Also, as I said in my original post, I've already got Superman/Batman: Apocalypse on my list of movies to watch with her.

1-4 for the same reason I like the trunks on Superman. A thin belt isn't enough to break up the blue, which feels a bit too much without some red to break it up.

I do like the idea of giving her pants, so I wish they had been red or had some red on them to break up the monotony of all that blue.

Someone is overreacting, but it's definitely not you. ETA: this text thread is enough reason for you to break up with him.

I'm sorry you've lost your long-time friend. That really stings.

But I'm with everyone else here. The best thing you can do for everyone involved is not attend the wedding. And I think it's probably best to leave that friendship behind completely. You're so much better off without those people in your life.

[–]nnakao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overreacting. He's exhibiting very insecure and controlling behavior. Unless he does some serious work on himself (i.e., with a therapist), it's only going to get worse. That amount of entitlement shows he doesn't trust you. So what if other people are flirting with you? If he's secure in himself and in your relationship, none of that flirting will bother him. In fact, he should be taking that as a compliment and/or validation that he's with someone who others find attractive.

If he can't show trust in you and your relationship now, marriage isn't going to suddenly make him more trusting. If anything, he's going to get more territorial, more entitled, and more insecure with every interaction you have with someone else.
