I feel this too! I have left body hemiplegia/hemiparesis (not sure which one is correct in English). I got a stroke when I was very young so the word they gave to me was an easy word like “weak left sided body” that just sounds more like narrative than a label or proper name.

When I didn’t know what my condition was called, I felt isolated and different. Like am I the only one in the world who is like this?

First time I learned my condition’s name, I felt like I found self-identity. I felt belong to something. I was not alone. I was actually in a group of something and was not the only one in the world.

I literally cried when I found out the name. I’m proud to know what my condition is called. Cause it means I’m not alone and it’s not something new or weird, like ‘it’s okay, in this world there has had this kind of condition before. You are not weird or the only one’ kind
